It’s been a beautiful 2020s decade for Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars. He became the number one overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. But a little-known fact is that he tied the knot with his high school sweetheart, Melissa Lawrence (née Mowry), just weeks afterwards.
He’s led the Jaguars to the playoffs, won a playoff game, completing one of the largest comebacks in postseason history, and signed a five-year contract worth $275 million. Just days after he signed that deal, the couple announced they’re expecting their first child, who was born on January 4, 2025. Now, he’s finally getting his first trip with his family.

Trevor Lawrence and Marissa Lawrence Enjoy The Offseason With Their Newborn
In an Instagram post, the couple announced Shae Lynn Lawrence’s arrival at the turn of the calendar. Since then, the Jaguars franchise has undergone many changes, and Lawrence is walking into the 2025 season with the world’s weight on his shoulders.
But before the rigor of a new NFL season begins, the family took some time away on an island. Mrs. Lawrence posted a thread of pictures from their getaway on Instagram, captioning it “Island girls.”
The album had everything from solos on the beach to pictures of the entire family having a good time in the water. A few photographs of the couple and images of the younger Lawrence followed.

But the entire collection was wrapped up with a serene video of Melissa lying by the poolside with her daughter, taking in the sights and sounds of the water from the pool and the waves nearby.
Lawrence Lining Up for Pivotal 2025 Season
It was an ideal getaway before the madness of the NFL season begins for Lawrence. After making the playoffs in 2022, the Jaguars have missed postseason competition in the last two seasons. Both years, the Clemson quarterback’s season ended early with injury.
An ankle sprain combined with a shoulder injury took him out in 2023, before an AC joint sprain, followed by a concussion, ended his 2024 season. Now, he’s returning to a team with a new general manager (James Gladstone) and head coach (Liam Coen).
Additionally, he has two excellent targets from last year’s sensation, Brian Thomas Jr., and reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Travis Hunter. With a team brimming with exciting young talent, the Jaguars are hoping for a productive year.
But at the center of their entire operation is their $275 million quarterback, who had arguably the worst year of his career before the injury in 2024. He finished 31st on PFSN’s QB+ metric, behind guys like Mason Rudolph and Mac Jones.
A bounce-back year is a necessity for Lawrence as the team tries to return to the playoffs.
