Bad Bunny will headline the Super Bowl 60 halftime show on Sunday in Santa Clara, California. The performance follows his Album of the Year win at the 2026 Grammy Awards. Let’s explore his age and career path to provide context for the NFL’s selection of music’s biggest star.
Bad Bunny’s Rise From Puerto Rico to Super Bowl 60 Halftime Star
Bad Bunny is 31 years old. He was born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, and grew up in Vega Baja. He attended the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo before releasing his early music on SoundCloud.
The NFL announced Bad Bunny as the halftime performer in September in coordination with Apple Music and Roc Nation. Bad Bunny is an American citizen, as Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the United States.
In 2020, he released two projects, “YHLQMDLG” and “El Último Tour Del Mundo.” Streaming platforms listed him as the most-streamed artist in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2025.
His sixth album, “Debí Tirar Más Fotos,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in January 2025 and won album of the year at the 2026 Grammys. Bad Bunny’s album is the first Spanish-language album to receive that award.
The 2016 songs “Diles” and “Soy Peor” marked his first widespread recognition. Collaborations with Cardi B on “I Like It” and Drake on “Mía” expanded his audience in the United States. His debut album “X 100pre” was released in December 2018.
Bad Bunny has sold more than seven million records and received four diamond and 11 platinum certifications. He has appeared at the Met Gala and participated in professional wrestling events. For example, he appeared at the 2021 Royal Rumble and in a match at Backlash Puerto Rico in 2023.
He played in the 2022 All-Star Celebrity Softball Game and has referenced baseball players Juan Soto, Randy Arozarena, Bryce Harper, and Mike Trout in his music. He is a co-owner of the Puerto Rican basketball team Los Cangrejeros de Santurce. He is in fashion as well. Bad Bunny has collaborated with Lionel Messi on an Adidas collection in 2024.

The upcoming halftime show is not his first Super Bowl appearance. Bad Bunny performed as a guest during the 2020 halftime show alongside Shakira and Jennifer Lopez. No special guests have been announced for the 2026 performance.
The halftime show will take place at Levi’s Stadium as part of Super Bowl 60 between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. As is tradition with Super Bowl halftime shows, Bad Bunny is expected to be on stage for about 15 minutes.
