How Old Is Cam Ward? A Look at the Titans QB’s Age, Birthday, Years in College, and More

Cam Ward will suit up for the Tennessee Titans after being selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. A year after transferring to the University of Miami (FL), Ward vaulted to the top of nearly every draft board and now lands in Nashville with sky-high expectations.

With a head coach, Brian Callahan, entering his second season looking for answers and a desperate need for a true franchise quarterback, Ward may be the player to finally stabilize the Titans under center for the first time since the days of Steve “Air” McNair.

Cam Ward’s Rise to Stardom Took Years — Not Just One Season

While he only spent one season at Miami, Ward made it count, passing for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns. Ward displayed the kind of can’t-miss talent scouts rave about. But his journey to the NFL wasn’t a straight line — he had to earn every stripe through years of growth and perseverance.

Before lighting up the ACC, Ward first made his mark at Incarnate Word, throwing for over 4,600 yards in 2021. He then transferred to Washington State, where he started two seasons and proved he could produce against Power Five defenses. However, it wasn’t until his final collegiate stop at Miami that Ward truly unlocked his pro potential.

How Old Is Ward and What Are His Career College Stats?

Cam Ward, born May 4, 2002, is 23, with his birthday having transpired one week before the Titans’ rookie minicamp that took place May 10-12, 2025.

Ward played five years of college football, appearing in over 40 games and amassing more than 11,000 passing yards and 87 touchdowns. He also added 17 scores on the ground, showcasing his out-of-the-pocket mobility in key situations.

Ward did not participate in the NFL Combine, but his draft stock continued to rise based solely on his game tape. His ability to throw off-platform, extend plays, and composure made him a top-tier prospect. PFSN’s Ian Cummings ranked him as the No. 1 quarterback in the 2025 class, ahead of high-profile names like Shedeur Sanders, Jalen Milroe, and Quinn Ewers.

All Eyes on Ward as Titans Hand Him the Franchise Keys

Now that he’s in Tennessee, Ward will be tasked with turning potential into production. The Titans finished 3-14 in 2024, failing to reach the playoffs for the third consecutive season. It can be argued that Tennessee hasn’t had a true franchise quarterback talent since McNair left the organization in the early 2000s.

Tennessee has invested draft capital in quarterbacks in recent years. The team selected Will Levis at No. 33 overall in 2023 and Marcus Mariota at No. 2 overall in 2015. Despite the past draft failures, Titans executives didn’t hesitate to make Ward the centerpiece of their rebuild.

Callahan finally has a quarterback handpicked for his system, and the belief is that Ward’s blend of arm talent, creativity, and football IQ can elevate the Titans back into contention.
