    How Long Does the Round 1 of the NFL Draft Last?

    The first round of this year's NFL Draft is set to take place on April 25 in Detroit at 8 p.m. How long will the opening round take?

    This year’s first round of the NFL Draft is set to begin at 8:00 p.m. ET on April 25 in Detroit with the event taking place from Campus Martius to Hart Plaza.

    Many fans will stroll in for the draft, and food and music will give the event a distinctly Motor City flavor. Entry to the draft event is free and open to the public, lasting from noon to 10 p.m. Festivities will take place for the duration of the NFL Draft from April 25-27. Prospects will walk the NFL Draft Red Carpet with the event set to be televised at around 5:20 p.m. ET with NFL Network broadcaster Kaylee Hartung interviewing prospects.

    How Long Is the First Round of the NFL Draft?

    The NFL Draft typically lasts around 3-4 hours and is broadcast on multiple television networks, including ABC, ESPN, and NFL Network. The event can also be streamed on FuboTV (free trial), Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV and YouTube TV. Pre-draft coverage begins one hour ahead of the draft on NFL Network. Each team gets 10 minutes to make their pick in the first round.

    Rounds 2-3 will take place on Friday, April 26 at 7:00 p.m. ET. Rounds 4-7 will begin on April 27 at noon. Teams are allotted seven minutes to make a pick in the second round, five minutes for regular or compensatory picks from Rounds 3-6, and just four minutes in the seventh round. There are 257 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft.

    Who’s on the Clock First, and What’s the Draft Order?

    The Chicago Bears have the first selection of the 2024 NFL Draft. Chicago will be followed by the Washington Commanders, New England Patriots, Arizona Cardinals, and Los Angeles Chargers to round out the top five picks.
