Hollywood Brown Injury Update: What’s the Latest on the Chiefs WR, and Will He Play in Week 9?

The Chiefs face one of the most feared teams in the NFL this week. Read more about their injury report and Hollywood Brown's status.

Hollywood Brown and the Kansas City Chiefs have a hole to dig themselves out of after their struggling start to the campaign. Luckily, players returning from injury have aided their push in the AFC West, where they’re sitting second from the bottom despite having a 5-3 record.

Brown has been a reliable target for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, but the return of the suspended Rashee Rice largely impacted his share of offensive action.

Ahead of the Chiefs’ Week 9 showdown with the Buffalo Bills, let’s explore Kansas City’s latest injury report and look at Brown’s availability for Sunday.

Will Hollywood Brown Feature in the Chiefs vs. Bills Game? Latest on His Illness

Brown didn’t suffer any game-related injury that resulted in him featuring on the Chiefs’ Week 9 injury report. The experienced receiver instead fell ill, which saw him miss practice on Wednesday.

It’s unclear how serious the situation is, but there’s certainly a chance that the wideout is back at practice on Thursday. He still has until Friday to log a session in order to be cleared to play against the Bills.

Beyond his services, the Chiefs also have WR1 Rice at their disposal along with Xavier Worthy, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Travis Kelce.

If Brown ends up missing the Bills game, head coach Andy Reid might rely more on these receivers given the injury concerns in the backfield.

The Chiefs Are Dealing With a Number of Injuries

Reid and company have a number of injuries to manage this week. Left tackle Josh Simmons missed practice on Wednesday due to personal reasons. Isiah Pacheco, working through a knee injury, joined him and Brown as absentees.

Right guard Trey Smith was the only player who saw a limited practice due to his back trouble.

Linebacker Nick Bolton, despite sitting with knee issues, had a full practice on Wednesday, as did running back Kareem Hunt and defensive end Charles Omenihu, who are working with ankle trouble.

Backup running back Brashard Smith (toe) and right tackle Jawaan Taylor (knee/shoulder) also saw full practices.

Kansas City will have to make the boat float against a loaded Bills squad standing at 5-2. Buffalo is trailing the New England Patriots in the AFC East after a couple of slips over the last few weeks, so head coach Sean McDermott and company will be motivated to go after the division-leading Pats.
