Greg Olsen recently appeared on the “Ross Tucker Podcast” and was asked about his relationship with Tom Brady. The two have never had any bad blood, but the media tried to paint a certain picture after Brady took over the lead color commentary spot from Olsen at Fox.
Brady is a much bigger name, but there was some confusion when he stepped into Olsen’s role with no prior experience, especially after Olsen had already knocked it out of the park.
Greg Olsen Shuts Down Rivalry Rumors With Tom Brady, Praising Personal Bond
After retiring from the NFL in 2020, Olsen signed on as a color commentator with Fox Sports on Jan. 24, 2021. He was immediately paired with Kevin Burkhardt, and the duo became Fox’s No. 1 crew after Joe Buck and Troy Aikman left for ESPN.
While his run as the top broadcaster didn’t last long, Olsen has made it clear he still wants that spot back. Brady is one of the most iconic football players of all time, so it’s no surprise Fox gave him the spotlight. Some might assume there’s tension because of that, but Olsen cleared the air.
“Tom and I have a really good personal relationship, a really good professional relationship, we’ve hung out and played golf together,” Olsen said. “We talk on the phone about raising teenage daughters and things that we share in common. There’s no animosity towards Tom.”

“Obviously, that was a unique situation, the way it all played out, and I get it. My aspirations of still calling top games, I’ve been very clear about, and how that all transpires, who knows? I enjoy doing this profession.”
With Burkhardt now working alongside Brady, Olsen was paired with Joe Davis for the 2024 season. They are expected to remain as Fox’s No. 2 broadcast duo in 2025. Davis has built quite a career of his own, serving as the lead play-by-play voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Fox’s top choice to call the World Series for the past three seasons.
Olsen, who entered the league in 2007, enjoyed a strong career on the field. He was elected to a trio of Pro Bowls, all during his 2011-19 run with the Carolina Panthers. After finishing his career with the Seattle Seahawks in 2020, Olsen signed a one-day contract to retire with Carolina.
Since stepping into the broadcast booth, Olsen has continued to shine and is determined to earn back that top spot.
