Their final record might not reflect it, but fans of the New York Giants are walking in with a ton of optimism next season. They potentially have their quarterback figured out if Jaxson Dart can put it all together, and a new Super Bowl-winning head coach at the helm in John Harbaugh, and a roster that is rife with talent at virtually every position.
Giants Pass on Carnell Tate Eye KC Concepcion as Perfect Complement to Malik Nabers
Expect this to be a sleeper team going into next season, but there are obvious needs that need to be addressed. The 2026 NFL Draft could be one of their best pathways to rounding out the roster, with one analyst believing a legitimate WR2 could be one of the biggest pieces of the puzzle for them.
Discounting the games with Russell Wilson standing under center, the offense had a ton of upside for the Giants. Dart, while going through rookie pains, showed enough upside and charisma to serve as the franchise star.
Even with Malik Nabers going down in their first game together, their lone half gave fans a ton of promise. Now, as he returns from a devastating injury, his path back to stardom could be aided by another threat on the field.
Names like Wan’Dale Robinson, Darius Slayton, and Theo Johnson gave them better-than-expected production, but the roster still needs a true threat outside of Nabers. After he ranked at number 15 on PFSN’s WR Impact in his rookie season, no Giants wide receiver was inside the top-30 last year.
That needs to change, and Cameron Sheath has an unusual idea for the team to get their guy in the 2026 NFL Draft. In his latest mock draft, he refrained from pairing them with the uber-popular choice of Carnell Tate from Ohio State.
Instead, he added to their defense by selecting what most people consider to be the best player in the class, Caleb Downs, with the fifth overall pick. For the help at wide receiver, though, Sheath had them wait all the way to the second round, where they added KC Concepcion instead.
Explaining his decision, he wrote, “Many have paired the Giants with Tate with the fifth overall pick, but that’s awfully high to draft your WR2. Malik Nabers is one of the best receivers in the league when healthy, and can handle the majority of receiving work, but not all of it.”
A star out of Texas A&M, Concepcion put up 919 yards and nine touchdowns in his lone season for the Aggies to bring his career totals to 2,218 receiving yards and 28 total touchdowns.
Sheath was understandably impressed, writing, “KC Concepcion is an explosive playmaker with bags of flair, both before and after the catch, and a breakaway threat in the return game.”
With a ton of changes coming to the organization, both on the sidelines and in the roster, a secondary threat for Dart could be just what the doctor ordered for the Giants. All hopes ultimately lie on their quarterback, but it is hard not to be a believer in the team, especially if they add a talent like Concepcion.
