The New York Giants have made the coaching splash that all of their fans have been waiting for. After consistently being one of the worst teams in the NFL over the past decade, the Giants have hired an experienced head coach with plenty of wins on his resume. That coach is John Harbaugh, and he will be tasked with bringing the Giants back to relevance.
One of the most significant moments of the offseason will be the NFL Draft, which is where Harbaugh and the Giants have a chance to find impact players who can turn their roster around. One spot they should be looking to improve is at wide receiver, and they can do that in the first round.
John Harbaugh’s Giants Select Ohio State WR in Mock Draft
If you want to have an explosive offense in the NFL, you need to have big-play wide receivers. That is what the Giants would be getting if they select Carnell Tate with the fifth-overall pick in the upcoming draft.
According to PFSN, the Giants took Tate fifth-overall and the reasoning behind it was, “Carnell Tate checks every box you want in a true WR1. PFSN’s consensus big board ranks him No. 7 overall and the No. 1 wide receiver in the class, with an elite draft grade of 91. At 6’3″, 195 pounds, Tate brings size, explosive vertical athleticism, and outstanding body control at the catch point.”
This past season at Ohio State, Tate caught 51 passes for 875 yards and nine touchdowns. For his career, he has 121 receptions across three seasons and 14 touchdowns.

Adding Tate to a WR room with Malik Nabers would give the Giants two dangerous pass catchers. Those players would be great in developing quarterback Jaxson Dart and for the overall success of the Giants’ offense.
Nabers is coming off a torn ACL, but he has shown flashes of being one of the best receivers in football over his first 19 games. The Giants have a young offense with Dart and running back Cam Skattebo entering their second seasons. It will be interesting to see how Harbaugh and his coaching staff will develop these players.
Giants Hoping to Get Back into Contention
What many Giants fans are hoping for is a team that is no longer in the cellar of the NFC East year after year. They should be able to accomplish that with Harbaugh at the helm.
Over the last nine seasons, the Giants have finished last in the division five times. The expectations are that Harbaugh, with a career record of 180-113, can turn the franchise around.
At 63 years old, it is fair to wonder if the game has passed Harbaugh by. His final few seasons in Baltimore were completely reliant on quarterback Lamar Jackson and his health.
Now with a lesser option, will Harbaugh be able to conjure up some success? There will be many fascinating storylines to follow about the Giants this offseason, and how Harbaugh navigates them all will be intriguing.
