Giants Reporter Reveals Top Candidate in John Harbaugh’s OC Search After Todd Monken Becomes Browns’ New HC

The New York Giants have their head coach, so now the team is trying to decide on who will be the next offensive coordinator.

The New York Giants made a big splash this offseason, hiring John Harbaugh to be the team’s next head coach. Harbaugh shockingly became available after leading the Ravens for 18 seasons.

The assumption was that Harbaugh would bring Todd Monken, his offensive coordinator with the Ravens, to New York in the same role. However, Monken took the head coaching job with the Cleveland Browns, and now there could be a new favorite emerging for the New York job.

John Harbaugh Could Hire a Coach Familiar With Jaxson Dart

Harbaugh explained that one of the reasons he chose the Giants job is to be able to work with Jaxson Dart. Dart showed flashes in his rookie season, and developing the passer should be the top priority.

With Monken no longer in the mix, a coach who’s now getting considerable buzz for the job is Charlie Weiss Jr. Weiss has been the offensive coordinator at Ole Miss since 2022 and is expected to join Lane Kiffin’s staff at LSU.

However, NFL insider Connor Hughes is reporting that Weiss is “garnering a lot of attention” for the Giants’ job.

“Weiss arrived at Ole Miss the same year as Jaxson Dart and served as his QB coach, offensive coordinator all three years,” Hughes explained. “The two remain close.”

That connection makes Weiss a logical choice for Harbaugh’s staff. The coach only has one year of NFL coaching experience, when he was an offensive analyst for the Atlanta Falcons in 2017, but he’s a well-regarded offensive mind who’s worked for top college programs.

“Wouldn’t go as far yet to say he’s the favorite, but he’s the name that keeps coming up in league circles,” Hughes said.

The Giants also recently requested permission to interview Davis Webb for the role. Webb was a backup quarterback for the Giants in 2017 and is currently the offensive pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Denver Broncos.

Giants Hoping Harbaugh Can Return Team to Relevance

The Giants have had a rough go of it lately. The team hasn’t won more than six games in a season since 2022, when they made it to the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

The hope is that Harbaugh can help the offense reach a new level. PFSN’s NFL Offense Impact Metric gave the team a 70.7 grade in 2025, which ranked 24th in the league. Injuries didn’t help, but regardless, the offense has to be better going forward.

Luckily for Harbaugh, he won’t start with a blank slate. The team has Dart at quarterback, Cam Skattebo at running back, and the elite Malik Nabers at wide receiver.
