Who Are the Giants Targeting As An OC to Guide Jaxson Dart?

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, New York has already spoken with or plans to speak with former Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan and former Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury.

“Source: Former Titans head coach Brian Callahan and former Washington offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury are involved in Giants’ initial OC search. New York plans to or has talked to them,” Fowler posted on social media.

The Giants’ approach to offensive coordinator likely shifted earlier in the week when longtime Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken was named head coach in Cleveland. Monken had been viewed as a natural candidate to follow Harbaugh to New York, given their shared success in Baltimore and the continuity he could have provided. His move to the Browns forced the Giants to broaden their search and accelerate conversations with other candidates.

New York’s urgency is underscored by its PFSN Offense Impact score of 70.7, which ranked 24th in the league this season and highlighted the need for a more cohesive structure around a young quarterback. The organization has emphasized improving its offensive baseline as it transitions to a new coaching staff and a rising second-year passer.

Callahan brings a strong background in quarterback development, highlighted by his work with Joe Burrow during Cincinnati’s rise to AFC contention. His experience designing spread concepts and timing-based passing structures could appeal to Harbaugh as the Giants look to ease Dart’s transition into the NFL.

Kingsbury offers a contrasting offensive identity built on tempo, spacing, and simplified reads. His Air Raid roots and experience with young quarterbacks, including Kyler Murray in Arizona and Jayden Daniels in Washington, make him an intriguing option for a franchise committed to developing its franchise quarterback.

Harbaugh and general manager Joe Schoen are expected to continue evaluating candidates as they work to finalize the offensive direction of a roster undergoing significant change. The coordinator hire is viewed across the NFL as the most important decision of Harbaugh’s early tenure, given the organization’s investment in Dart and its desire to build a stable developmental environment around him.

The search remains ongoing, but early indications suggest Callahan and Kingsbury are among the most serious contenders as the Giants work to establish the offensive identity of the Harbaugh era.
