While the New York Giants showed strong interest in Kenneth Walker, missing out on the Super Bowl MVP doesn’t derail their offseason plans. The Giants still have promise in Cam Skattebo, who flashed before his injury and has built strong chemistry with quarterback Jaxson Dart. With the No. 5 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and several top prospects potentially available, New York has multiple paths to improve its roster.
Kenneth Walker Deal Leaves Giants Searching for Answers
As SNYtv reporter Connor Hughes said, “The #Giants were involved in this early, with an extensive meeting at the NFL Combine.” ESPN Nation Writer Jordan Raanan added onto this idea by saying, “My understanding is the Giants put in an offer.” So, what did the Giants lose out on?
Walker is coming off a great year with the Seattle Seahawks. Not only was his regular season really good as he rushed for over 1,000 yards and had 5 touchdowns, but his postseason was special. Walker averaged an outstanding 104.3 yards a game. However, his best game was the Super Bowl.
Against a Patriots defense that ranked No. 12 and received a C+ from PFSN’s team defense Impact, Walker had a great game. He ran for 135 yards and averaged 5 yards per carry. For his great efforts, Walker won the Super Bowl MVP award.
Walker has proven he’s consistently great, with 31 total touchdowns over his career and a steady back. So it makes sense why Harbaugh would want to pursue him.
Signing Walker would be a huge win for Harbaugh. Having the Super Bowl MVP choose Harbaugh’s squad would show that players want to be part of the culture he is building in New York.
It would also generate excitement, where Giants fans could use it after a tough season. In 2025, the Giants only won 4 games, and quarterback Jaxson Dart missed time due to injuries. So adding Walker would be a huge boost to the Giants’ excitement next season.
However, all hope is not lost for the Giants. The Giants have running back Cam Skattebo. Skattebo got injured in a Week 8 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, before this, Skattebo showed flashes of brilliance in both the receiving and rushing games for New York.
As Hughes said, “They (the Giants) are not in a position to be spending this money on a RB.” So, Skattebo as a one should be good for the Giants.
Additionally, adding Walker could have possibly hurt the team. Skattebo and Dart have shown great chemistry off the field and have formed a special bond. So if the Giants went out and signed Walker and made Skattebo the two, that could have messed with a potential great chemistry.
Even if Dart, Harbaugh, and everyone in New York wanted Walker, it is a bummer they missed out on him, but they have other ways to have a great offseason. They pick fifth in the draft. According to PFSN’s mock draft simulator, available players could include Sonny Styles, Arvell Reese, and Caleb Downs.
In conclusion, all hope is not lost for the Giants organization, despite a bumpy start to the offseason.
