‘Generational Talent’ — Ex-NFL Star Heaps Praise on Caitlin Clark for Her ‘Championship DNA’

A former NFL star has been watching Caitlin Clark's game closely in the WNBA, and now he's calling her a "generational talent."

Game recognizes game. That’s where Robert Griffin III is at this point with Caitlin Clark.

RG3 was one of the NFL’s most exciting players early on in his career, winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award and earning a Pro Bowl nod before injuries took a toll on his explosiveness.

Meanwhile, Clark hasn’t even played three full seasons, but she’s already a three-time All-Star since becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. She’s already established herself as one of the league’s elite talents, but RG3 believes Clark is even more special than that.

RG3 Believes Caitlin Clark is a ‘Generational Talent’

Clark came into Sunday’s contest against the Minnesota Lynx ranking third in points per game and second in assists per game. Then, against the Lynx, she recorded a double-double, with 19 points and 10 assists.

While the 19 points are a tick below her season average of 21.6 PPG, Clark became more of a distributor, recognizing that Kelsey Mitchell, who finished with 37 points, had the hot hand.

After the game wrapped up, Griffin III took to X to comment on Clark, calling her a “generational talent” who showed her “championship DNA.”

“Caitlin Clark is a generational talent,” Griffin III stated. “No doubt about it. But her willingness to help her teammates Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston shine shows her championship DNA. When they have the hot hand, SHE FEEDS THEM. No selfishness. No jealousy. Just Ball. You LOVE to see it.”

RG3 can’t help but appreciate the way Clark plays. As he says, it’s not just about scoring the most points or getting the individual accolades; Clark is trying to do what’s best for her team.

RG3 also called Clark and Mitchell the WNBA’s best 1-2 duo today.

“Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell are the best 1-2 Duo in the WNBA right now,” Griffin argued.

“Kelsey Mitchell has had FIVE 30-point games this season and has scored 20 points or more in 14 straight games, one game away from tying A’ja Wilson’s WNBA record of 15 straight. Caitlin Clark is coming off 3 straight games where she has 32 points and 7 assists, a 26 points-10 Rebs-10 assists triple double and a 19-point-10-assist double-double. They are sensational together and make each other better.”

Together, Clark and Mitchell are a dynamic duo. Ironically, the Indiana Fever still lost by eight points to the Lynx. But that doesn’t mean Clark and Mitchell didn’t play their hearts out.
