Garrett Wilson Injury Update: Will Wilson Play in Week 11? Fantasy Impact and More

New York Jets WR Garrett Wilson has seen 12+ targets in four straight games. How does his injury impact the New York Jets offense heading into Week 11?

Fantasy football managers may have to make some tough decisions at the wide receiver position this week as some big names are dealing with injuries. One of those names is New York Jets WR Garrett Wilson, who picked up an injury in the team’s 16-12 to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

Let’s take a closer look at the fantasy fallout from Wilson’s injury.

Latest Injury Update on Garrett Wilson

According to a recent report from Rich Cimini, Wilson was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice with an elbow injury. Another recent report from Zack Rosenblatt from Thursday afternoon detailed Wilson still participating in Thursday’s practice session on a limited basis. Wilson was spotted having a conversation with head coach Robert Saleh prior to Thursday’s practice and

    Will Wilson Play This Week?

His appearance on the injury report doesn’t seem too concerning at this time, but his participation in practice throughout the week should be monitored heading into their AFC East showdown against the Buffalo Bills.

Wilson has been a frustrating asset for fantasy managers throughout the 2023 season. He is a very talented, heavily targeted player, which makes him very tough to put on your fantasy bench because he possesses elite-level upside at the WR position.

Unfortunately, he is a victim of being stuck in one of the worst offenses in the league with horrid quarterback play, which significantly lowers his fantasy ceiling every week. If he is available against the Bills, he is a low-end WR2 option in Week 11.

What Does This Mean for Allen Lazard and Tyler Conklin’s Fantasy Ranking?

A dynamic talent like Wilson has had trouble this season. He’s returning just top-20 value at the WR position, even with a dominant target share in this New York Jets offense.

On the plus side for Wilson, he has seen a minimum of 12 targets in four straight games, which has led to him posting four consecutive fantasy performances of 12 or more points in PPR formats. His yardage and reception totals have also been very solid with at least seven receptions and 80 yards during that span.

The real problem is his low fantasy ceiling because of the Jets’ struggles to find the end zone. He hasn’t scored a TD since Week 2, and the quarterback play — while mildly better than most expected — hasn’t been good enough to thrust Wilson into the WR1 conversation.

If Wilson is unable to play against the Bills in Week 11, it will mostly be a combination of Allen Lazard, Tyler Conklin, or Xavier Gipson who see more work in the passing game. Conklin, in particular, is coming off of a seven-reception, 70-yard performance against the Raiders in Week 10 and could see some success against a banged-up Bills defense.

Conklin would get a bump into top-12 consideration at the TE position this week, while Lazard and Gipson will still rank way outside of my top 40 at the WR position against Buffalo.
