How Long Will Garrett Wilson Be Out For? Latest Update on Jets Star’s Injury Ahead of Week 16

Find out more about the latest news on Jets WR Garrett Wilson's injury that has kept him sidelined for weeks and when he might return.

New York Jets wideout Garrett Wilson has been watching from the sidelines while the team has spiraled in the AFC East. The wideout has been the subject of speculation ever since he was benched about a month ago, even though his return will mean nothing in terms of a playoff push for New York.

When Will WR Garrett Wilson Return to Action?

After starting the season with a series of strong performances, Wilson has been held out due to a knee injury. His practice window could be opened at any time, but whether that actually happens remains to be seen. The team would naturally not want to risk him aggravating the injury again, and being out of playoff contention doesn’t hurry them, either.

Ranking 29th on PFSN’s Offense Impact metric, New York’s offense has struggled this season, and the wide receiver’s absence has only added to its woes. He initially injured the knee during a Week 6 loss against the Denver Broncos and attempted to return in Week 10 against the Cleveland Browns.

However, he aggravated the injury before he could put up any numbers and never returned to the game.

He was initially slated to miss at least three games. But that was bumped up to an extended absence, as he has yet to see on-field action after being listed on the injured reserve on November 13. While head coach Aaron Glenn showed optimism that the receiver would play again this season, his status hinges on a conversation with the medical doctors.

Despite missing most of the 2025 campaign, Wilson has been his usual self when healthy. In eight games this season, he has accumulated 36 receptions for 395 yards and four touchdowns. He also averaged 11.0 yards per catch, with a longest gain of 33.

Aaron Glenn Is Managing a Thin Receiver Room in Wilson’s Absence

Wilson’s injury has only been a thorn in the side of a receiver room that is already lacking depth this year. Glenn has had to resort to backup John Metchie III and trade piece Adonai Mitchell to provide his batch of quarterbacks with some receiver help.

Beyond the thin wide receiver room, their tight ends, Mason Taylor and Jeremy Ruckert, also haven’t provided much relief.

The Jets are already looking toward next season, having dropped out of contention for the division title. They sit at the bottom of the AFC East with a 3-11 record, trailing the 3rd-placed Miami Dolphins, who are at 6-8.

The New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills are jousting it out for the division, with New England sitting at 11-3 and Buffalo sitting at 10-4.
