Reaction to Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier’s Selection to the Chiefs

After five seasons with the LSU Tigers, Nussmeier accrued a completion percentage of 64.0%, 7,699 passing yards, 52 touchdowns, and 24 interceptions.

Funnily, he’s not a rusher at all, so he has -153 rushing yards across his five seasons, because it accounts for yards lost when he’s sacked. However, he does have five rushing touchdowns.

After having a poor final season with a completion rate of 67.4%, 1,927 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, and five interceptions, Nussmeier’s draft stock fell dramatically. In PFSN’s CFB Quarterback Impact Metric, he ranked 110th with an impact score of 75.9 and a letter grade of C.

Now, he’ll be joining Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Even though it’s unfortunate for Nussmeier that he fell in the draft, there might be no better place to develop as a quarterback than with Mahomes and Andy Reid.
