‘Future Raiders QB Kyler Murray’ — NFL Fans React to Cardinals Naming Jacoby Brissett As Starting QB for Week 10

As the Cardinals bench Kyler Murray for Jacoby Brissett, social media erupts with wild reactions and trade speculation on the former No. 1 pick.

The Arizona Cardinals entered the season looking like an impressive contender on paper, and their hot 2–0 start seemed to back up the hype. But the momentum quickly unraveled, as the team dropped five straight games and franchise quarterback Kyler Murray struggled to find consistency.

With Murray sidelined due to injury, veteran backup Jacoby Brissett stepped in and guided the Cardinals to a surprising road win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9. Now, ahead of their Week 10 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, Arizona has officially named Brissett the starter, and NFL fans are losing their minds on social media.

NFL Fans React to Kyler Murray’s Benching

With Murray struggling to find consistency this season, his injury has quietly become a blessing in disguise for Arizona’s offense. The unit has looked noticeably sharper with Brissett under center, and the analytics back it up. Brissett currently ranks 10th in PFSN’s QB Impact Score with an 82.8 grade. Although his sample size is smaller, he sits well above Murray, who ranks 19th.

When head coach Jonathan Gannon first named Brissett the Week 10 starter, many assumed the move was tied to Murray’s recovery timeline.

However, Gannon later confirmed that even a fully healthy Murray would not start over Brissett right now, a statement many believe marks the beginning of the end for the 28-year-old’s career in Arizona.

Fans quickly took to social media to express their reactions:

“welp, hard to imagine we see kyler murray play another snap for the cardinals,” a user wrote.

“Kyler Murray just lost his job,” wrote another.

“Getting benched for a 32 year old Jacoby Brissett in the big 2025, it’s so over for that midget LMFAOOOOOO,” a third wrote.

Murray, drafted first overall in 2019, has led the Cardinals to just one winning season and one postseason appearance. His overall regular-season record, 38-48-1, only amplifies the frustration. With a coaching staff that inherited him rather than hand-picked him, trade speculation is now swirling.

“Jets should have sent a 4th to AZ for Kyler murray. They wouldve accepted it 100%,” wrote one.

“They should’ve flipped Kyler Murray during this past trade deadline. A few teams need QB play. He’s NOT the answer for the Cardinals,” wrote another.

Some fans are already predicting his next destination to be the Las Vegas Raiders.

“Future Raiders QB Kyler Murray,” one fan wrote.

“Kyler Murray to the Saints or Raiders,” another fan wrote.

“Kyler Murray to the Raiders next season I can already see it happening,” wrote another.

The Raiders acquired Geno Smith this offseason, but he has struggled to make any meaningful impact, and calls for him to be benched are growing louder.

A potential trade for Murray to Las Vegas isn’t far-fetched, but the larger question is whether the Raiders would rather roll the dice on another average veteran or pivot toward drafting a long-term answer at quarterback.

And then came the jokes, particularly regarding Murray’s well-documented love for gaming.

“Kyler Murray probably smiling knowing he gets to play Call Of Duty more now,” a user wrote.

“Kyler realizing he has more time to prep for Black Ops 7,” joked another.

“This will give Kyler way more time to focus on BO7,” wrote another.

Through five starts this season, Murray posted a 2–3 record with just six touchdowns against three interceptions.

It’s difficult to envision him reclaiming the starting job, and if Brissett continues to produce, the most likely outcome is Murray playing elsewhere in 2026, and even then, earning a starting role would be far from guaranteed.
