Coming off his first NFL 1,000-yard receiving season, wideout Alec Pierce is searching for his next move. Spending the opening four seasons of his career with the Indianapolis Colts, the 25-year-old’s rookie deal has come to its conclusion. As teams bid for the Cincinnati product’s services, Pierce keeps an open mind.
Alec Pierce Weighs Potential Landing Spots Ahead of Free Agency Opening
The NFL free agency window officially opens on March 11, with teams able to discuss potential deals two days prior, on March 9. Pierce will undoubtedly receive plenty of interest as he comes off his best NFL season to date. With teams inevitably circling, the 6’3″ wideout joined Kay Adams on “Up & Adams” to give his thoughts.

Adams opens by asking Pierce how close the wideout and his team are to getting a deal done.
“I’m not really sure, I think my agents there on that more so,” said Pierce. “They said they’re gonna start working on stuff after they figure out the Daniel [Jones] stuff, which was yesterday. We’ll see, they should be getting back to us today or tomorrow.”
On Tuesday, the Colts used a rare transition tag on quarterback Daniel Jones. Slightly different from a franchise tag, ESPN’s Stephen Holder explains what it means.
“The tag guarantees the Colts the right of first refusal for Jones, preserving the right to match any competing offer sheet he might sign with an interested club,” said Holder.
“The news comes ahead of Tuesday’s deadline to assess franchise or transition tags on players who are scheduled to hit free agency next week…If Jones does not sign a competing offer sheet, he would earn a one-year guaranteed salary of $37.833 million.”
As there are no guarantees Jones or Pierce return to Indianapolis, Adams proposes several other teams that could be linked to the 2022 second-round pick, including the Tennessee Titans. “That’s a good spot,” said Pierce. “It’s close, young quarterback.”
Further quizzing his intrigue, the media personality mentions the Buffalo Bills and the potential to catch passes from Josh Allen. “That would be special,” said Pierce. “He’s one of the most talented quarterbacks in the NFL. I’m a big fan of his game, so that would be cool too.”
Keeping his cards close to his chest, the Colts’ leading receiver in 2025 may be one of the most sought-after players in the entirety of the free agent pool.
Using PFSN’s WR Impact metric, the 17-career TD man ranks ninth amongst eligible receivers. One of his most impressive statistics, Pierce’s 11.9 yards per target, ranked second in 2025 behind just New England’s Kayshon Boutte.
Will the Colts reunite Jones and Pierce, or will No. 14 land elsewhere for the first time in his young NFL career?
