NFL Weather Report and Forecast Week 6: Windy Conditions Starting to Cause Some Headaches

What is the Week 6 NFL weather report, and how will the conditions around the league impact fantasy football decisions this week?

As we head deeper into the autumn and toward winter, the weather will continue to impact NFL games this season. We have seen the weather getting colder and the winds starting to get more blustery, as was evident Thursday night. Let’s take a look at the Week 6 NFL weather report and determine if any games could be majorly impacted from a fantasy football and betting perspective.

All times listed are Eastern Time. Forecasts for Week 6 are supplied by reports from the National Weather Service (Met Office for London Weather).

The weather forecast is correct as of 10:55 a.m. ET Sunday and will be updated as needed.

Week 6 NFL Weather Report Fantasy Impact

Baltimore Ravens at Tennessee Titans | Sunday, 9:30 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: Low-50s
  • Showers: <5% chance at kickoff
  • Wind: 7 mph northerly

The weather is colder this week in London, but from a football point of view, things are still pretty calm. Not many would have guessed we would go three game days in a row across three weeks without rain in London, but here we are. Even the wind has played ball, with another calm day in London.

Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears | Sunday, 1:00 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: Low-50s
  • Showers: 20% chance at kickoff and dropping throughout
  • Wind: 18 mph northerly with gusts up to 26 mph

This game is the biggest weather issue this week, with wind gusts topping 25 mph potentially having a major impact. We saw the weather suppress offense on Thursday night, but that wind speed was slightly higher. This weather should not completely suppress offense, but the two offenses may both look like they are struggling at times.

In terms of fantasy, you are probably starting your WR DJ Moore and TE T.J. Hockenson and leaning toward Jordan Addison with Justin Jefferson out. The weather should help Justin Fields by opening up more run plays to try and keep the wind factor out of the game.

This weather should increase the opportunities for Alexander Mattison and D’Onta Foreman while also giving Cam Akers an opportunity to have enough volume.

Seattle Seahawks at Cincinnati Bengals | Sunday, 1:00 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: Mid-50s
  • Showers: <5% chance at kickoff
  • Wind: 10 mph northerly

This wind is borderline in terms of suppressing offense, but generally, right around 10 mph is not a major issue. Games tend to go under the projected total when the wind is above 10 mph, but we are talking about a 56% rate as opposed to 70%. There should be no reason not to start your studs in the passing game here.

San Francisco 49ers at Cleveland Browns | Sunday, 1:00 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: Mid-50s
  • Showers: 60% chance at kickoff increasing through the game
  • Wind: 18 mph northerly

This game is not a major concern, but the weather is not ideal from a fantasy perspective. The wind is bordering on being annoying, and the wet weather will also have a bit of an impact. However, we are not talking enough to impact Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, or Brandon Aiyuk in the 49ers passing game.

For the Browns, this weather, combined with PJ Walker getting the start, should probably make you consider sitting your Browns pass catchers. If you were debating Amari Cooper or David Njoku, it might be best to look elsewhere.

Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars | Sunday, 1:00 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: Mid-70s
  • Showers: <5% chance at kickoff
  • Wind: 11-13 mph westerly

Much like the other games with the wind just above 10 mph, there is the potential to be some offensive suppression here, but it certainly shouldn’t be anything major. If there are any pass catchers you are on the fence about, maybe lean away from them. However, your Calvin Ridley and Christian Kirk types should still be safe options.

Carolina Panthers at Miami Dolphins | Sunday, 1:00 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: High-80s
  • Showers: 20% chance at kickoff
  • Wind: 10 mph westerly

The same story applies to this game as many of the others. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle are still slam-dunk starts. Adam Thielen is probably also still a solid starting option, but those fringe guys just take a little downgrade.

However, with a number of outdoor games having weather concerns, there is an element of picking your poison on these options. Don’t overthink players in this game. If you feel good about them, ride with them and hope for the best.

Philadelphia Eagles at New York Jets | Sunday, 4:25 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: High-50s
  • Showers: <5% chance at kickoff
  • Wind: 11 mph northwesterly

The same analysis applies to this game as above, really. You shouldn’t be shying away from A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, or Garrett Wilson because of this weather. The fringe options it is a similar story. If you have other players in outdoor games you are choosing between, you have to decide how much the weather bothers you.

Detroit Lions at Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Sunday, 4:25 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: High-70s
  • Showers: <5% chance at kickoff
  • Wind: 11 mph northwesterly with gusts up to 18 mph

The game down in Tampa Bay is a little more of a concern. Those guts up to 18 mph can be tricky but are not usually a major issue. Again, start those studs, such as Mike Evans and Amon-Ra St. Brown, and then make an educated decision based on your other options.

Players playing indoors get a slight boost over Buccaneers and Lions players, but other players playing outdoors should be viewed similarly.

New York Giants at Buffalo Bills | Sunday, 8:20 p.m.

  • Expected Temperature: High-40s
  • Showers: 60% chance at kickoff
  • Wind: 8 mph northerly

Despite the rain, it should be fairly nice conditions up in Buffalo to round out Sunday. This game may see gusts creep in around 8 mph, but if we are not worrying about 10 mph wind, we certainly are not when the wind speed is 20% lower. Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis are good to go, but the other pass catchers in this game are a much deeper question than the weather.
