What Is the Fantasy Impact of the Week 13 NFL Weather?

Weather information was taken from Weather.com at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 29. In-depth stats are courtesy of Pro Football Reference.

Los Angeles Rams at Carolina Panthers

  • Kickoff: Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET
  • Expected Temperature: Mid to high 40s
  • Showers: 24%
  • Wind: 6 mph SW

The Los Angeles Rams will be confident of picking up their 10th win of the season on the road against the plucky Carolina Panthers team, who have playoff aspirations of their own. Blake Corum is a flex consideration in a potential blowout. With a slight chance of rain, Carolina may be forced to run against the fifth-ranked run defense in the NFL (tied).

San Francisco 49ers at Cleveland Browns

  • Kickoff: Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET
  • Expected Temperature: Mid 30s
  • Showers: 6%
  • Wind: 27 mph WSW

San Francisco 49ers fans could be forgiven for fearing the worst after images emerged of the Cleveland Browns practicing in heavy snow on Friday. The 49ers endured a tough loss to the Buffalo Bills in similar conditions last season, and more snow would certainly favor the AFC North outfit on Sunday.

Both Christian McCaffrey and Quinshon Judkins are must-starts already, but Dylan Sampson is a worthwhile waiver add in case the snow persists. The game against the Bills last year totalled 373 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns, and it will likely be a similar story this time around.

Needless to say, if you’re rostering either kicker, you should be looking to stream somebody else this week, with winds expected to be in the high 20s.

New Orleans Saints at Miami Dolphins

  • Kickoff: Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET
  • Expected Temperature: Low 80s to high 70s
  • Showers: 13%
  • Wind: 14 mph ENE

The Miami Dolphins are looking to build on the back-to-back wins that preceded their bye week. They’ll be confident of doing just that when they welcome the 2-9 New Orleans Saints to the Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday afternoon. 14 mph winds might be enough to rethink your kicker, but it’s not enough to prevent you from starting the usual names.

Darren Waller is questionable, but eligible to return, and his status will be one to watch. Juwan Johnson, meanwhile, is a solid start against the Dolphins, who have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to tight ends this year (tied).

Atlanta Falcons at New York Jets

  • Kickoff: Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET
  • Expected Temperature: Mid 40s
  • Showers: 42%
  • Wind: 9 mph SSW

The New York Jets’ passing game is much improved with Tyrod Taylor under center, but the potential rain at MetLife Stadium won’t help it. Breece Hall is a strong start against an Atlanta Falcons defense that has allowed 4.6 yards per carry this season, the 10th-most in the NFL.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans

  • Kickoff: Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET
  • Expected Temperature: Low 40s
  • Showers: 0%
  • Wind: 9 mph NW

The conditions shouldn’t play a part when the Jacksonville Jaguars visit the Tennessee Titans. The Titans are the only AFC South team not carrying playoff hopes into this weekend.

The Jaguars have won five of their last six games against the Titans, and will be confident of doing the same in Nashville on Sunday.

Arizona Cardinals at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • Kickoff: Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET
  • Expected Temperature: Low 80s
  • Showers: 0%
  • Wind: 8 mph ESE

With conditions expected to be near perfect in Tampa, the most fantasy-relevant factor to keep an eye on will be the status of Marvin Harrison Jr. The Arizona Cardinals receiver has missed two weeks after having surgery for appendicitis.

Michael Wilson and Greg Dortch have been fantasy stars with Harrison sidelined, but their value would take a significant hit if the second-year receiver was declared active. Zonovan Knight remains a touchdown threat, with Trey Benson still sidelined, while Bucky Irving’s likely return should end Sean Tucker’s run of fantasy relevance.

Minnesota Vikings at Seattle Seahawks

  • Kickoff: Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET
  • Expected Temperature: Mid 40s
  • Showers: 3%
  • Wind: 3 mph NE

Max Brosmer is set to make his first NFL start this Sunday, with J.J. McCarthy ruled out with a concussion. The Seattle Seahawks might be more disappointed about that than the Minnesota Vikings are, though, given McCarthy’s miserable performances this year.

Justin Jefferson is too talented to bench, but Jordan Addison has been bench-worthy for several weeks. Things can’t get any worse for the Vikings’ pass attack, but Seattle isn’t the most likely venue for an offensive renaissance.

Buffalo Bills at Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Kickoff: Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET
  • Expected Temperature: Mid 30s
  • Showers: 2%
  • Wind: 17 mph WSW

The Bills have lost two of their last three games and three of their five road games this season. The Pittsburgh Steelers won’t make life easy, either, with Aaron Rodgers cleared to play after missing Week 12 with a wrist injury.

The Steelers have given up the most passing yards per game this season (258.7), but the Bills’ lack of receiving depth may prevent them from taking advantage. Buffalo, meanwhile, has allowed the second-most rushing yards per attempt this year (5.3), and Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell are both solid starts in fantasy this week.

Denver Broncos at Washington Commanders

  • Kickoff: Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET
  • Expected Temperature: Low 40s
  • Showers: 5%
  • Wind: 7 mph W

After the Dallas Cowboys beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday, the Denver Broncos could move four wins clear of Andy Reid’s men with a win over the Washington Commanders.

The Broncos’ defense ranks first in PFSN’s Defense Impact metric this year, and should have reigning DPOY Patrick Surtain II back after he missed the last three games. The Commanders’ defense, meanwhile, has allowed the seventh-most rushing yards per attempt (4.7 – tied), and the most passing yards per attempt (8.9).

Troy Franklin and RJ Harvey are strong starts, while Courtland Sutton has a great opportunity for a get-right game. Deebo Samuel Sr. remains a must-start, but you could be forgiven for passing on the rest of the Commanders’ offense this week.

New York Giants at New England Patriots

  • Kickoff: Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET
  • Expected Temperature: High to mid 20s
  • Showers: 1%
  • Wind: 2 mph N

Through 12 games, the New York Giants’ defense has allowed 5.9 rushing yards per attempt, the most in the NFL. Add to that the below-freezing temperatures expected at Foxborough on Monday night, and TreVeyon Henderson has the potential to go nuclear this week.

Jaxson Dart is in line to return for the Giants. The rookie has put up massive numbers against some of the best defenses in the league, including Denver, and can plug straight back into your lineup if needed.
