Los Angeles Rams (at TEN)

The Los Angeles Rams were the third-ranked defense in Week 1 with 11 fantasy points against the Texans. The Super Bowl contenders now face the Tennessee Titans, who struggled to get things going against the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos are a top defense, but rookie Cam Ward’s connection with his receivers was clearly off to start the year. That will improve, but Ward will be constantly under duress in his second NFL game.

The Rams boast an explosive pass rush and will be looking to capitalize on a young quarterback’s inexperience in Week 2.

Dallas Cowboys (vs. NYG)

The Cowboys should be considered the fourth choice, behind the three other defenses on this list. However, the Giants’ offense was woeful in Week 1, and there is no guarantee they’ll be any better moving forward.

The Cowboys were better than many expected against the Eagles on opening night, but Jalen Hurts could dice them on the ground. Wilson, though, doesn’t possess Hurts’s rushing prowess and too often dives ball-first into tackles.

The veteran quarterback should be expected to improve in Week 1, but his offensive line remains a problem, and the Cowboys’ defense could have a field day this weekend.

Indianapolis Colts (vs. DEN)

Indianapolis shut out Miami for three quarters over the weekend, and is an obvious waiver wire target for those needing a change at defense. The Colts face the Broncos in Week 2, and will be confident of disrupting Bo Nix and company.

The Broncos’ offense spluttered against Tennessee in Week 1, and the Titans were the sixth-best fantasy defense of the week. Indy may struggle against Denver’s stacked defense, but the Colts’ defense could also be one of the better units in the league, having added some playmakers in the offseason.

The Colts were asleep heading into the season, due to their questionable quarterback situation, but their defense could be a massive asset in fantasy in 2025.

San Francisco 49ers (at NO)

The 49ers underwent a significant transition on defense this offseason, with several key pieces moving on in free agency. Regardless, they held the Seahawks to just 13 points in Week 1 and were the 10th-best defense in fantasy.

This week, they face the Saints, who put up a fight against the Cardinals in Week 1, but never threatened to overpower San Francisco’s NFC West rivals. Second-year quarterback Spencer Rattler was handed an impossible task in Year 1, with both his starting receivers injured, and he should perform better in Year 2.

That said, the 49ers still boast some of the best defensive stars in the game, and they will be looking to their defense to dominate on Sunday.
