Kyler Murray’s return to the field may not be as close as fantasy football managers hoped. The Arizona Cardinals’ star quarterback remains on injured reserve, and his latest update from head coach Jonathan Gannon left more questions than answers. With Jacoby Brissett keeping the offense competitive, Murray’s 2025 outlook grows murkier by the week.
Could his absence signal the end of his fantasy relevance this season?
Kyler Murray Injury Update
Murray is eligible to return from the injured reserve in Week 14. However, Cardinals’ head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters during his Monday press conference that Murray was “… not quite there yet.”
Jacoby Brissett will remain the starter in Arizona for the foreseeable future. Given how well the offense has looked with Brissett under center, it is fair to question whether the Cardinals will activate Murray at all in 2025, especially in a lost season.

Murray Fantasy Outlook
Murray hasn’t played since Week 5, and with the team not opening his window to return this week, he’ll miss at least one more contest.

With the 3-9 Cardinals eliminated from playoff contention and Murray’s $230.5 million deal extending through the 2028 season, it’s not hard to imagine him having played his last game this season.
The money alone gives him a great chance to regain his starting gig next season, but I’m not holding him in redraft formats any longer.
