Khalil Shakir has quietly finished as a top-40 receiver in each of the past two seasons without generating much attention. Buffalo’s addition of DJ Moore has pushed him even further down draft boards this summer.
The gap the market is pricing between the two may be far wider than it should be. Fantasy managers should know what Shakir still offers at this cost.
Should You Draft Khalil Shakir in Fantasy Football?
As of early September, Shakir is going off the board in PFN’s Free Fantasy Mock Draft Simulator with an ADP of 137.4. Depending on how many people are in your league, that’s about a 14th-round pick.
PFN’s fantasy analysts Jason Katz and Kyle Soppe are much higher on Shakir than the consensus. They have him as the 98th-ranked player in fantasy football this year, which comes out as WR46 on their board with a projected 10.17 fantasy points per game in PPR leagues.
With Shakir, the big question is how he’s going to produce with DJ Moore in the mix. DJ’s probably going to be the WR1 in Buffalo, but Shakir has been very consistent. He finished WR40 in 2024 and WR42 in fantasy in 2025. That’s pretty consistent. He’s had over 600 receiving yards each of the last three seasons and over 70 receptions each of the last two years.
Maybe not a ton of touchdown value. He’s only had 11 touchdowns over his four seasons in the NFL. All things considered, though, he’s somebody you can rely on to put up decent WR2-type production. We’re talking WR2 in the NFL, maybe not from a fantasy perspective.
I’d say at Shakir’s current ADP, 137 is a little too aggressive in the negative direction. I don’t know that his production is going to be as good now that you factor in DJ Moore. You also factor in Skyler Bell. Maybe he’s going to be something. There are a lot of mouths to feed in that Bills offense. James Cook is still going to have his share of the touches, and maybe Keon Coleman and the tight ends in Buffalo as well. It’s well documented what they can do.
But Shakir is somebody who’s been a consistent force in this Bills offense, and I don’t think that’s going to change anytime soon. Would I take him with a top-100 pick? No. There’s not necessarily a high ceiling with Shakir in the grand scheme of things, but I think there’s a decent floor. You know what he’s going to be for the most part.
At his current ADP of 137.4, I am saying buy on Shakir. Don’t have the highest expectations about what his ceiling is going to be, but I think his floor is going to be solid. If you’re looking for a WR4, even a WR5, I think that’s pretty fair.

Khalil Shakir’s Week 1 Fantasy Outlook

We are four years into the career of Shakir and still searching for his first season with 850 yards or 5 touchdowns.
I understand why his name doesn’t do much for you, but players like this can be just as critical for your long-term success as any. He clearly fills a role in this offense that the organization deems valuable, and we saw him almost single-handedly keep this passing game above water when these two teams squared off in Week 12 last year.

The Bills had nothing going (Shakir was the only player with over 45 receiving yards), but you got fed if you were invested in their slot machine. Now, some of that is a result of what this elite defense was comfortable allowing, but isn’t that part of the handicap here?
His aDOT in that strong performance was 2.4 yards, and 5 of those receptions came on third down, his only game in 2025 with more than 2 such grabs. The single-play upside is a little higher than you think, and while I’m not trying to sell you on him being a week winner, I will tell you that I’ll have cheap DFS exposure with confidence.
