Evaluating Jonah Coleman as a rookie for fantasy football purposes requires a heavy dose of patience, but his three-down upside makes him an incredibly intriguing stash for your bench.
Should I Draft Jonah Coleman in Fantasy Football?
Selected by the Denver Broncos as a fourth-round pick, Coleman enters a suddenly crowded backfield where early opportunities will likely be limited. I think this is a slow burn while everyone is healthy, meaning you should not expect him to be a reliable asset during the opening weeks/months of the season.
However, the rookie brings a highly productive resume that gives him a clear path to fantasy relevance if the depth chart begins to thin out.

Coleman proved he can handle a heavy workload during his collegiate career, running for 1,000 yards in 2024 with Washington. He followed that up by racking up over 1,000 scrimmage yards last season, with a 31-354-2 line as a pass catcher drawing our interest in PPR formats.

As a prospect, he consistently displays above average vision to maximize his blocking, which helps compensate for his below average burst in the open field. Despite lacking elite top-end speed, he profiles as a better pure runner than backfield mate RJ Harvey.
With veteran J.K. Dobbins currently sitting atop the depth chart, we have to acknowledge that Dobbins’ body only allows him to do so much over the course of a long NFL season. Given that extensive injury history ahead of him, Coleman possesses plenty of upside if/when he inherits the lead role in this Sean Payton offense. Ultimately, if you’re going this route in the second half of your draft, it’s with the long game in mind and there’s nothing wrong with that.
