The Miami Dolphins prepare for another crucial matchup as they work to stay competitive in the AFC East. Jaylen Waddle has been dealing with an injury concern that emerged on Thursday’s practice report. Will fantasy football managers have their star receiver available for Week 8?
Jaylen Waddle Injury Update
The Dolphins are facing a new mid-week concern as Jaylen Waddle unexpectedly appeared on Thursday’s injury report. Initially absent from the report on Wednesday, the star wide receiver was listed as a limited participant with what was described as “rest/hamstrings”.
This type of mid-week addition always raises eyebrows. The inclusion of “rest” implies that the team may simply be managing workload for a player central to their offense. However, the mention of both hamstrings is concerning. Unlike a single strain, soreness or tightness in both legs could signal fatigue or early warning signs of strain.
David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported that Waddle received partial rest for precautionary reasons, lending optimism that Miami is being proactive rather than reacting to a new injury. Early signs suggest this isn’t a major threat to his Week 8 status against the Atlanta Falcons, but the Dolphins will take no unnecessary risks given their lack of WR depth following Tyreek Hill’s season-ending knee injury.
The key indicator will be Friday’s practice report. If Waddle participates in any capacity, especially if upgraded to full, fantasy managers can breathe easy. But if he’s downgraded to DNP, it would signal that Thursday’s “limited” listing wasn’t maintenance at all and that he might have tweaked something during his reps.
Until then, there’s cautious optimism. The team needs Waddle to anchor Miami’s offense, and all indications point toward Thursday’s designation being workload management rather than a setback. Friday’s session will clarify whether this was simply precautionary or cause for legitimate concern.
Waddle Fantasy Outlook
Waddle cleared 15 PPR points in each of the first two games following the Tyreek Hill injury, but when Tua Tagovailoa was asked to support him in anything less than ideal conditions, he vanished.
In the blowout loss, Waddle picked up 15 yards on his 25 routes, and we saw next to zero signs of life from this passing game.

If you want to talk yourself into this being a weatherproof game and thus a spot to trust Waddle, go crazy. I like my mental stability, so I’m opting to look elsewhere when given the opportunity and have him ranked as a low-end WR3.
Only twice this season has a team seen a receiver score even a dozen PPR points against the Falcons, and Waddle doesn’t exactly fit the mold of those two instances (Emeka Egbuka in Week 1 and Deebo Samuel in Week 4).
Give me Xavier Worthy or Khalil Shakir over Miami’s WR1 this week: I’d rather bet on those quarterbacks and take my chances.
