This week’s fantasy football landscape presents intriguing injury situations that could significantly impact your lineup decisions. When key players battle through health concerns on a short week, it creates both opportunities and headaches for managers. Smart fantasy football managers will need to weigh risk versus reward carefully as they set their rosters.
Jayden Reed Injury Update
There were plenty of concerns about Jayden Reed’s ability to be effective while trying to play through a foot injury in Week 1. He promptly put them to bed, leading the Green Bay Packers in PPR scoring (13.5 points, WR20) by catching three passes for 45 yards and a touchdown. Reed did log just a 38% snap share (which is low even for his slot-only status), so there is a lot of risk in trusting him weekly.

Reed will be listed on the injury report for the foreseeable future, but there is an additional risk associated with his ability to play effectively on a short week. He will likely be active Thursday night against the Commanders, but will need a touchdown to maintain his fantasy production on a lower snap share.

Reed Fantasy Outlook
Reed playing through this injury feels like an odd decision for a team hoping to play meaningful games in January, but it’s not my day to run the organization.

Jordan Love spreads the ball around, and that’s not going to change, no matter how healthy Reed is or isn’t. He was able to find the end zone last weekend against the Lions and has proven good for two touchdown catches a month over the course of his career, but is a compromised version of him seeing five targets really all that appealing?
It’s not for me.
He feels like an in-game flight risk, and the ceiling isn’t nearly high enough in this rotation to take on that sort of risk.

There will come a time in October when you’re hurting at receiver and place value on Reed being a part of a potent offense. In that situation, you’ll be willing to overlook the red flags because it’s go this route or roll the dice on Jalen Nailor. In that situation, playing Reed is fine. In Week 2, with reasonable health across the league and all 32 teams in action, you don’t have to do it.
Reed sits outside of my top-40 receivers this week, a short one for the Pack.
