Jayden Daniels Start/Sit: Latest Injury Update, Fantasy Outlook, and More

Jayden Daniels could return soon as Washington Commanders weigh its options at quarterback. Will Week 14 mark his comeback?

Jayden Daniels’ return to the field might be closer than fans think, but Washington continues to play it cautiously with its rookie quarterback. After missing last week’s matchup against Denver, the team appears optimistic, though not yet certain, about his Week 14 status. The details around his setback remain closely guarded, sparking plenty of speculation from both Commanders fans and fantasy football managers alike.

Could this be the week Daniels makes his comeback?

Jayden Daniels Injury Update

Daniels began to practice last week before ultimately being ruled out for the Washington Commanders’ Week 13 matchup against the Denver Broncos. The quarterback has made it clear in interviews that when he is ready to return to the field, he wants to, regardless of the team’s record.

Head coach Dan Quinn stated that Daniels had not been fully cleared for contact heading into Week 14, but that the team would continue to ramp him up before deciding his game status on Friday. Marcus Mariota would continue to start if Daniels is ultimately unable to return.

Daniels Fantasy Outlook

It’s believed that Daniels (elbow) could suit up for this game after practicing in part last week, thus setting the stage.

We could debate about the rationale that goes into that decision, but at the end of the day, that’s not our job. This season, he has a rush TD or multiple passing scores in four of six games, and while it hasn’t looked the same as his standout rookie season, a healthy version of him is a fantasy asset.

After this week, the Commanders go Giants-Eagles-Cowboys to close the fantasy season. We catch a break with the second Philadelphia game coming in Week 18, and the other three opponents over that stretch don’t scare me in a significant way.

We can address the Eagles matchup in Week 16 (a Saturday kickoff) when the time comes. I’ve got him penciled into my top 12 this week, understanding that this was a non-throwing arm injury that, if he’s comfortable, should only impact his viability for our purposes in a minor way.
