Fantasy Football Sleepers for Week 2 Include Kayshon Boutte, Calvin Austin III, and Tre Tucker

Five widely available fantasy football sleepers including Calvin Austin III and Kayshon Boutte offer strong Week 2 upside with favorable matchups.

Finding fantasy football sleepers can be a great way to swing the matchup in your direction. Often, we’re forced to start unlikely players, usually due to injuries, bye weeks, or simply being in a deep league.

Determining if a spot is good for a sleeper involves considering the matchup and situation. How is this player being used on the field? Have they shown flashes on the field? Factors like these can set certain sleepers apart. With that in mind, find out our top fantasy Sleepers for Week 2. Each player is widely available across all formats.

All sleepers are rostered in fewer than 25% of Yahoo leagues.

Kayshon Boutte, WR, New England Patriots (at MIA)

You may not realize this because this game log dates back to last season, but Kayshon Boutte has now turned in three strong games in his previous four:

  • 6 receptions, 103 yards last week
  • 7 receptions, 117 yards, 1 TD in Week 18
  • 4 receptions, 28 yards in Week 17
  • 5 receptions, 95 yards, 1 TD in Week 16

The usage was promising for Boutte in Week 1, as he led the Patriots with eight targets and 137 air yards. It’s clear that Boutte is the No. 2 wideout at worst right now, even with Stefon Diggs and Demario Douglas in the fold. Rookie Kyle Williams is firmly behind on the depth chart.

Up next is an exploitable matchup against the Dolphins, who just allowed Michael Pittman Jr. to go off for six catches, 80 yards, and a touchdown. Boutte looks like the top sleeper on the board this week.

Calvin Austin III, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. SEA)

Up next is Calvin Austin III, who was one of my favorite late-round best ball picks due to his path to playing time, along with the ability to win downfield.

The third-year wideout didn’t disappoint in Week 1, racking up four catches for 70 yards and a touchdown against the Jets.

While you’ll get boom-or-bust production here, Austin is a good pickup in deeper full-PPR formats, providing you with another option to round out your bench.

The matchup looks solid in Week 2, as the Steelers are home to the Seahawks, who just allowed Ricky Pearsall to put up four catches for 108 yards.

Tre Tucker, WR, Las Vegas Raiders (vs. LAC)

Tre Tucker is similar to Austin in that he’s a deep threat who will give you boom-or-bust production. There’s a path for Tucker to become the No. 2 receiver for the Raiders, behind Jakobi Meyers.

What you have to like about Tucker’s Week 1 was his usage, where he played 90% of the snaps with 63 air yards, one end zone target (converted for a touchdown), and 54 yards. This is another deep league pickup that you may stash on your bench and fire up in DFS lineups, especially if it’s a full-PPR format.

Tucker’s next matchup isn’t one to fear, as he goes up against the Chargers in an indoor game environment. This is a defense that allowed Marquise Brown to cross the century mark in Week 1.

Isaac TeSlaa, WR, Detroit Lions (vs. CHI)

Isaac TeSlaa followed up a strong training camp and preseason by getting very little playing time in Week 1, but he did catch a touchdown with an impressive grab at the end of the game.

This is a long-term sleeper pickup, one you might consider throwing a dart on in Week 2 DFS lineups, given the Lions’ public statement about wanting to increase TeSlaa’s involvement in the offense.

Given how much Detroit struggled to move the ball in the first game without Ben Johnson, it’s clear they’re not in a position to ease their rookie into the lineup. This team needs to keep all of its talented options involved as it tries to figure out its new offense.

The next matchup comes against the Bears, who currently have a banged-up secondary, as cornerbacks Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon missed Week 1. If these two corners are out again, perhaps TeSlaa will have some room to get loose downfield.

Elic Ayomanor, WR, Tennessee Titans (at DEN)

The last sleeper for Week 2 is a repeat offender in this column in Titans’ rookie wideout Elic Ayomanor. While he didn’t get it done for us in Week 1, catching only two balls for 13 yards, the usage was promising.

Ayomanor led the team with 133 air yards and a 28% target share in his NFL debut. That kind of high volume bodes well for Ayomanor’s rest-of-season outlook. Up next is an easier matchup on paper than what Ayomanor saw against the Broncos, as the Titans host the Rams.

Consider Ayomanor as a cheap DFS punt play, or you can fire him up in deeper full-PPR formats. Like TeSlaa, this is another player on this list who has long-term appeal.
