The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-2) will visit the New Orleans Saints (1-6) in Week 8. Here’s the latest fantasy football news and advice to help you with your lineups this week and moving forward, specifically regarding WR Emeka Egbuka.
Is Emeka Egbuka Playing in Week 8?
Update: Despite missing some practice time this week, barring any surprises, Egbuka is expected to play in Week 8.
Egbuka missed Wednesday’s walkthrough due to a hamstring injury, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers’ official site reports.
We’ll continue to monitor the Buccaneers’ injury report leading up to kickoff for any changes. You can also visit and bookmark our Fantasy News Tracker for the latest updates.
Should You Start or Sit Emeka Egbuka in Week 8?
A week ago, it was a discussion of how much time Emeka Egbuka would miss with a hamstring injury.
Over the weekend, it became clear that there was a chance he’d suit up on Monday night in Detroit.
Fast forward and the rookie sees a season-high 12 passes thrown his way and saw his value to this team spike beyond where it already stood after Mike Evans broke his collarbone late in the first half of the 24-9 loss.
Egbuka wasn’t effective at the level that we’ve come to expect in Week 17 (58 yards on 12 targets), but I think we can cut him some slack when you consider all of the moving pieces.
This is a great spot for him to get on the same page as Baker Mayfield and reestablish himself as a top 15 receiver for the remainder of the season. The bye comes next week, and the hope is that Egbuka is back to his early-season form for a favorable finishing stretch that is highlighted by games in Carolina and Miami during the final two weeks of our season.
