Deebo Samuel Sr. has been a force this season, emerging as a go-to weapon whenever he’s been on the field. His explosive playmaking ability has made him a fantasy football favorite, but his availability took a sudden turn. A lingering issue has clouded his status, sending ripple effects through lineups ahead of Week 8. Though there’s optimism around practice ramp-up, the nature of the injury raises caution. Will he be the same when he returns?
Deebo Samuel Sr. Injury Update
The Washington Commanders held Samuel out of Week 7’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys due to a lingering heel injury. Samuel had been limited in practice for most of the two prior weeks before ultimately getting shut down for a game.
Head coach Dan Quinn expects Samuel to ramp up to full practices this week. Early expectations are that he can play in Week 8, but foot injuries can be easily aggravated.

Samuel Fantasy Outlook
We weren’t sure this heel injury would cost Samuel time, but he sat out last week and should be approached with caution.
He’s looked great for the majority of this season (TD or 10 targets in four of six games), though some of that production has come with Terry McLaurin sidelined.

The hope is that this offense is close to full strength this week, though it’s obviously something you need to track as the weekend nears. This Chiefs defense is among the best in the game, but Samuel’s versatility gives him paths to success in virtually any spot.
If all health concerns fade, Samuel will check in as a reasonable flex play for me in Week 8.
