Is Adams Playing Week 16?

Adams has been dealing with a hamstring issue that has kept him on the injury report for multiple weeks. The veteran receiver told reporters that his left hamstring issue happened early during the Rams’ game at Carolina in Week 13. Despite the injury, he has continued to play through it and produce at a high level.

Adams managed just a single limited practice last week as he managed the injury. Unfortunately, he did not make it through the game.

Adams pulled up lame and knew right away that his day was done. The veteran receiver immediately grabbed at his hamstring and walked gingerly off the field. He did not return to the contest. The aggravation occurred at the worst possible time given the quick turnaround to Thursday night.

Adams did not practice all week. The Rams listed Adams as doubtful on their final injury report heading into Thursday night’s divisional showdown. I am still not sure why teams use the doubtful tag. Doubtful players never play.

In the hyper-competitive NFC West, the division is far from decided. The Rams are the favorites for the divisional title and No. 1 seed, but the job is far from complete. They need to win this important divisional showdown against the Seahawks.

However, as important as this game is, the Rams need Adams healthy for the playoff run even more. The short turnaround from Sunday night to Thursday night gives Adams minimal time to recover. Hamstring injuries require careful management, and rushing back too quickly risks a more severe strain that could sideline him for multiple weeks.

With the Rams still competing for playoff positioning, they cannot afford to lose Adams for an extended period. He is not going to play tonight. The team will hold him out to ensure the hamstring has adequate time to heal. Fantasy managers should not expect to see Adams again until the NFL playoffs.

Adams’ Fantasy Football Outlook

Adams entered Week 15 with a hamstring injury and exited the week with it getting worse.

All signs point to him missing this game on short rest and, based on the first meeting (a one-yard TD being his only reception on eight targets), maybe that’s a blessing in disguise for fantasy managers in the semifinals.

Prior to the injury, he earned nine targets against the Lions, his most since Week 5, and while he only hauled in four (71 yards), that level of involvement would have me singing an optimistic tune given the value of where those targets come for the veteran.

There isn’t a receiver that has my eye in Los Angeles, but this injury does open the door for Colby “the scoring machine” Parkinson to continue his surge as a viable streaming option at the position, something I never saw coming.
