The Chicago Bears offense is one that the world is optimistic about, and yet, their clear RB1 can still be had at a very reasonable cost. Maybe it’s because he’s not the “shiny new toy” that others in this offense are, but D’Andre Swift has been among the easiest clicks for me to make this summer, and his price really hasn’t changed in a meaningful way throughout the process.
Should You Draft D’Andre Swift in Fantasy Football?
In PFN’s Free Fantasy Mock Draft Simulator, Swift currently has an ADP of 50.8. That’s a fifth- or sixth-round pick depending on how many people are in your league. The Pro Football Network fantasy experts, Jason Katz and Kyle Soppe, are a little bit higher on him. They have him as RB18, so that would in most cases be an RB2 for you.
With Swift, you have to keep in mind the presence of Kyle Monangai. I think that as long as he’s there and getting touches in that offense, which he will continue to do, Swift isn’t going to be a bona fide RB1 in fantasy for you. But even with Monangai taking on a decent amount of carries down the stretch last year, Swift was still able to rush for 9 touchdowns. He surpassed 1,000 rushing yards for the second time in his career, and 1,087 rushing yards was the most that he’s had in his career to date.
He’s also been pretty consistent from a PPR perspective. He’s had at least 34 catches in every single season he’s played in the NFL since he joined the league in 2020, and he’s somebody who can go off on essentially any given week. There’s a little bit of hit-or-miss inconsistency, but from a big-play perspective, he had 5 games in PPR leagues with over 19 points. That’s somebody who could definitely make a big difference for you.
There’s certainly a ceiling with Swift. There are other running backs you could take around this range who probably have a little bit more upside, but I think Swift is a very safe bet, especially if you’re taking an RB2. Swift is somebody around that 50 range I’d absolutely consider hammering at the ADP where they’re currently taking him. If you’re looking for an RB2 in fantasy, especially in PPR leagues, he’d be a good guy to target based on where he’s currently going.

D’Andre Swift’s Week 1 Fantasy Outlook

In mid-August, reports out of Chicago, a situation with young talent all over the place, were that Swift was impressing as much as anyone.
You love to see it.
Much was made of Swift being replaced in Detroit when Ben Johnson was in town. The narrative was that the coach wasn’t a fan of the player and that this relationship would be tenuous at best. A slow-ish start for him last season didn’t help quiet those whispers, and Kyle Monangai started to get some press.
And then what happened?
Swift logged his fourth straight season with at least 220 carries and 45 targets, something literally no other RB has done over that stretch, and showed well for himself in the playoffs (34 touches, 168 yards, and a touchdown).
He was never going to get Derrick Henry-like work, but for me, he’s the clear top RB in an offense that we all like to explode. The Panthers were the second-worst third-down defense in the entire NFL a season ago, and that gives me additional confidence that Caleb Williams is going to be on our TVs with regularity this weekend.
There’s a chance that this budding group of playmakers takes this offense from good to special in short order, and that would put their RB1 in the fantasy RB1 discussion in my eyes, a steal given the price you paid on draft day.
Whether you want to co-sign my season-long optimism is your decision to make, but I do think we have a good shot at seeing what is possible in this plus-matchup, and therefore I will be closing the doors on the Swift hype train before kickoff.
