Dak Prescott believes that his Dallas Cowboys have the GOTI: Greatest Offense There Is. He deserves points for not venturing into the “All Time” conversation, but fantasy football leagues aren’t won with words in July. Does he have a point, and should you be scooping up shares of this team whenever possible at your draft?
Breaking Down the Dallas Cowboys’ Fantasy Potential
It’s a high bar to clear in this era of football. Much like what we’ve seen in the NBA, there are so many high performers at the most critical spots that crowning any single offense above the rest is dangerous.
The Cowboys were one of nine teams to score 25+ points in at least 10 games last regular season, a list that didn’t include the up-and-coming Bears, maybe the best offense in the league in Detroit, the Bengals, Ravens, or Chiefs, due in part to QB injuries, or the Chargers.

I think the ceiling on a week-to-week basis will remain high (they were the only team to hit 400 yards of offense nine times last year), but fantasy managers need consistency, and that’s a tougher sell, especially when you look at what stands in their way.
Top Scoring Defenses From 2025
- Seattle Seahawks (road game, Week 13)
- Houston Texans (road game, Week 4)
- Denver Broncos
- New England Patriots
- Philadelphia Eagles (Weeks 7 and 12)
That Eagles game comes on a short week, and the Seahawks one after 12 straight weeks of action. Add in a date with the Rams (in Los Angeles) and the fact that we don’t get access to the second Washington game (Week 18), and this statement looks to have trouble holding up in terms of weekly counting numbers in the fantasy world.
Yes, this offense had a 4,000-yard passer, a pair of 1,000-yard receivers, and a 1,200-yard rusher last season. That’s all true. You want to know what else is true? They were held to 20 or fewer points on five occasions in 2025, more than a Steelers offense that we want no part of.
It’s not that this offense can’t produce; they most certainly can. But America’s team doesn’t exactly come at a discount in the draft streets, and that complicates matters.

If we are doing a cost-adjusted evaluation here, Williams is my favorite buy (he could repeat what he did a season ago, and that would make this sticker price a touch cheap) with Pickens up next, though I think both receivers eat at each other enough to make their current ADP more reflective of a ceiling outcome than a mean projection.
Prescott himself is fine, but again, I worry about the ceiling. In a league where duality drives scoring, he’s nowhere close to the threat with his legs as he once was (18 rushing scores from 2016-18, just 13 since). His last run gaining more than 25 yards came in 2019, making even a single rush to save your week a long shot at best.
I’d argue that most things went right for this offense a season ago, and there were still six instances during the regular season in which Prescott failed to throw for multiple scores (shut out in that department three times).
Long story short, the Cowboys will once again be an above-average unit, but not one that you need to bend over backward for. As things stand now, I’d argue that two of their core four (Lamb and Prescott) already carry an inflated price tag, and stories like this are only going to result in an ADP bump.
