Chris Godwin Injury Update

Godwin is once again not expected to practice ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Week 11 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Godwin has not played since Week 5 after suffering a fibula injury in his return from a dislocated ankle in 2024.

Emeka Egbuka has functioned as Tampa Bay’s WR1 with Mike Evans and Godwin sidelined, but the injury has also allowed tight end Cade Otton and rookie seventh-round pick Tez Johnson to have fantasy value. That will continue in Week 11.

Godwin Fantasy Outlook

You hate to see this.

Godwin had the brutal injury (fibula) late last season, and while he was healthy enough to return at the end of September, the injury has had him sidelined for the past month, and we could be looking at another few weeks before he trends close to playing.

With Mike Evans on the shelf and Bucky Irving banged up, there are targets to be had, but a 29-year-old receiver who is coming off a full year of battling this injury gives me little confidence.

If you have an IR roster slot that isn’t going to be used elsewhere, I don’t mind keeping Godwin, but things seem to be trending in the wrong direction, especially for a team that very well could opt to ease him back when he is reasonably healthy in the hopes of having him close to full speed come the postseason.
