The Minnesota Vikings prepare for their Week 15 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys following their dominant victory over the Washington Commanders. Aaron Jones continues to deal with a shoulder injury. Will fantasy football managers have the veteran running back available for this week’s game?
Aaron Jones Sr. Injury Update
Jones suffered a shoulder injury during the Vikings’ Week 13 game at Detroit. The veteran running back has been dealing with the issue since then but played through it last week.
The shoulder injury remains an issue the veteran back has to deal with. Jones was limited at practice on Wednesday. However, this represents no cause for concern, as the Wednesday limitation is merely maintenance for the veteran running back. If anything, it’s encouraging that he didn’t receive the day off entirely, as many veterans do when managing minor injuries late in the season.
Jones is at no risk of missing Sunday’s game. He practiced last week with the shoulder issue and was cleared from the injury report prior to rushing for 76 yards against the Commanders in Week 14.
Jones’ Fantasy Outlook
Jones hurt his shoulder in Week 13, but wasn’t on the final injury report and the Vikings made it clear that he is the back they prefer.
The veteran RB out-snapped Jordan Mason 7-3 in the first quarter and looked about as good as we’ve seen him this season with a 14-for-76 performance in the shutout win over the Commanders.

Last week carried more good than bad and the Vikes will need to play some defense with their offense in this game, but there are still too many red flags to consider him anything more than a marginal flex option.
Mason held the edge in red zone snaps on Sunday and Jones failed to catch a pass. This offense is a disaster right now and that makes for a low floor, even if we feel decent about the role. What you got last week is, in my opinion, on the plus-side of projectable. That is, the carry count and efficiency were higher than expected and that means that there’s more room for regression than building on a reasonable day at the office.
Jones is unlikely to lose you your week and there’s value in that, but he’s just as unlikely to post a big number and give you a serious advantage over the competition.
