Fantasy Football QB Week 12 Trade Targets: Buy Low, Sell High Players Include Kyler Murray and Trevor Lawrence

It's always tricky to value quarterbacks for trading purposes. Are there any QBs fantasy managers should trade for or away ahead of Week 12?

It’s always difficult to properly value the quarterback position in fantasy football for trading purposes. Eight weeks into the season, values have shifted dramatically. Unraveling all that we saw in Week 11 and translating it into Week 12 QB trade targets is where fantasy managers can differentiate themselves.

To help you get your head around it all, here are our thoughts on some QBs to buy low or sell high entering Week 12.

Which QBs Should You Trade for in Fantasy Football?

    Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

Kyler Murray has certainly looked good in his two games back. However, he’s yet to really have that vintage performance. He’s accounted for just three touchdowns in his two games back.

The Cardinals do have a Week 14 bye and the 49ers in Week 15, but Murray has mega-smash potential in Weeks 16 and 17 against the Bears and Eagles. If you’re a team looking good for a bye but struggling at QB, Murray is the No.1 guy you should target.

Which QBs Should You Trade Away in Fantasy Football?

    Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars

After finishing as the QB31 despite just 28 teams playing last week, Trevor Lawrence was the overall QB1 this week. It was quite the turnaround for the underwhelming third-year starter.

Given Lawrence’s pedigree, all it takes is one great outing like this for fantasy managers to completely buy back in. Use that to your advantage.

The Jaguars get the Texans next week and then the Bengals, but then have the Browns and Ravens in Weeks 14 and 15. If Lawrence’s fantasy value is restored based on one performance, ship him away to a starry-eyed manager.

Should You Trade Trevor Lawrence for Brock Purdy?

Lawrence still hasn’t posted a 20-point fantasy game. He’s been at 18 or lower, or 32, which is what he gave fantasy managers last week.

This was the Lawrence we’ve been waiting for. Naturally, I finally benched him in the two leagues where I have him.

The reaction from many will be to thrust Lawrence back into lineups next week, especially in a favorable matchup against the Texans. Perhaps it works out. But a better idea is to trade him away for a guy clearly better than him — Brock Purdy qualifies.

Purdy has now thrown for at least 272 yards in four straight games. He’s posted back-to-back three touchdown games, cresting 20 fantasy points in three straight. he now has six such games on the season. That’s five more than Lawrence.

Outside of Week 16 against the Ravens, Purdy’s remaining schedule is fantastic. Notable is his Week 17 matchup against the Commanders — the most fantasy-friendly pass defense in the league.

Purdy is set to smash over the final six weeks of the fantasy season. You should absolutely trade Lawrence for Purdy if you can.

Should You Trade C.J. Stroud for Kyler Murray?

The discourse surrounding C.J. Stroud is fascinating. He’s clearly an excellent quarterback and will be a high-end starter for the next decade-plus. But in fantasy, he’s merely been good.

Of course, we take “good.” No one is complaining about Stroud’s production. But he’s not a runner. Murray is. Murray offers a level of upside that Stroud just cannot provide.

Stroud just threw for 336 yards and two touchdowns. Murray threw for 214 yards and one touchdown. Yet, Murray scored four more fantasy points. That’s the value of rushing.

I’m not trying to get rid of Stroud. And Murray still having his bye in front of him matters. But if you’re sitting pretty for playoff positioning, I might just prefer Murray to Stroud.
