With two 8-9 seasons in as many years in charge of the team, the Atlanta Falcons have finally pulled the plug on head coach Raheem Morris. They also fired GM Terry Fontenot after their regular-season finale. Now everyone is watching to see who they will interview.
Which Former NFL Coach Will the Atlanta Falcons Interview?
The Falcons boast a plethora of young talent on their roster, particularly on the offensive side of the field. With that in mind, it’s not much of a surprise to see them keeping tabs on one of the most sought-after offensive minds in the league right now.
According to a report by NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, the Falcons have formally requested to meet with Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, “The Falcons requested an interview with Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak for their head coaching job, per source,” Pelissero wrote on X.
This is far from a surprise. Kubiak doesn’t only come with a well-known, familiar pedigree, but he’s also found plenty of success in his past two stops in the league.
He’s orchestrated high-flying offenses with the New Orleans Saints and Seahawks, even helping Sam Darnold look like an MVP candidate at one point this season.
With Kubiak at the helm, the Seahawks have averaged 28.4 points per game, the third-most in the league. They also have the seventh-most total yards per game (362.3).

Kubiak runs his own version of the Shanahan offense. With the Falcons most likely sticking with Michael Penix Jr. for the long run, he’d be a solid bet to help develop him and take his game to the next level.
The second-year quarterback out of Washington had a PFSN QB impact metric of 70.1, which ranked 31st among eligible players this season. That’s far from ideal for a former first-round selection, and the Falcons must prioritize finding the right head coach to unleash his potential.
The Falcons also have two budding stars in WR Drake London and RB Bijan Robinson, and they should prioritize re-signing TE Kyle Pitts in free agency.
Even so, they will most likely face some steep competition for Kubiak’s services. He’s expected to be one of the most sought-after head coaching candidates in this cycle.
With other teams like the New York Giants and Tennessee Titans also looking for a new head coach to help their promising young quarterbacks, it seems like one of Gary Kubiak’s sons will have plenty of options to choose from before taking the next step in his career.
