One of the biggest storylines of this offseason has been the Philadelphia Eagles’ preparation to seemingly move on from A.J. Brown, a stance that was essentially reaffirmed with the team drafting Makai Lemon in the 2026 NFL Draft.
However, former divisional rival Micah Parsons says to Eagles fans that Brown is not the problem in Philly.
Micah Parsons Defends A.J. Brown
With the 51st overall pick in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans selected Brown out of Mississippi.
There, he spent three seasons before being traded to the Eagles ahead of the 2022 season. In his first two years, he was named a Pro Bowler twice, but his production began to decline, and cracks started to form between him and the organization.
This past season, Brown complained about his lack of touches, which led to a lack of production. In 15 games, Brown caught 78 receptions for 1,003 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. In PFSN’s NFL Wide Receiver Impact Metric, Brown ranked 21st with an impact score of 80.9 and a letter grade of B-.
With trade talks ongoing, earlier this week, NFL Insider Adam Schefter revealed that Brown is likely to become a Patriot following June 1.
There have been harsh reactions from Eagles fans towards the Browns, but Parsons has come to the wide receiver’s defense.
“It’s amusing how many Eagles fans believe Aj Brown is the problem!” Parsons wrote on X.

After the team drafted Lemon last night, he gave the following take:
“There’s no replacing A.J. Brown… It’s a demotion of A.J. Brown. Those who think it’s them saying bye to A.J. Brown, what leaves with A.J. Brown? The tenacity, the route running, the ability to go deep. I don’t care about the locker room. This is one of those times you don’t let great players walk out of the building that easy and just say, ‘oh, this is the replacement.’… you don’t replace great players.”
Since joining the Eagles, Brown has recorded 339 receptions for 5,034 receiving yards and 32 touchdowns across 62 games. Across his entire career, he has tallied 524 receptions for 8,029 receiving yards and 58 touchdowns.
Brown’s talent is undeniable, but the tensions between him and the organization have only become stronger over the past year. He’s an excellent player, but after the team selected Lemon, it’s clear that his fate is all but sealed.
As for the other problems Parsons might be referring to, it could be quarterback Jalen Hurts, head coach Nick Sirianni, or both. Regardless, Brown will have a new home at the start of the 2026 season.
