The Philadelphia Eagles are the reigning Super Bowl champions, but their season so far has been a complete rollercoaster. After starting the season 8-2, the team has suffered three straight losses, and doubts began to creep in about its offense.
However, despite their poor run of form, the Eagles remain at the top of the NFC East division and, barring an unforeseen collapse, will likely be in contention to defend the Super Bowl.
How Far Can the Eagles Go This Season?
The goal for the Eagles is clear: to win the Super Bowl. They are aiming to become just the third team this century, after the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs, to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
Philadelphia has arguably the best roster in the league, and they improved it at the trade deadline by adding Jaelan Phillips. Saquon Barkley hasn’t been the same player this year, but the Eagles’ decision to trade for Tank Bigsby earlier in the season could end up being a difference-maker for the team.
Heading into the Week 14 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Eagles had a record of 8-4. According to PFSN’s NFL Playoff Predictor, they had a 93.70% chance of making the postseason, a 92.90% chance of winning the NFC East, a 5.90% chance of securing the top seed in the NFC, and a 5.10% chance of winning the Super Bowl.

The Los Angeles Rams had the best chances (37.40%) of securing the first seed in the NFC, followed by the Seattle Seahawks, who had a 31.30% chance. Following their loss against the Chargers, it’s now nearly impossible for the Eagles to finish as the first seed.

The Eagles now have an 83.40% chance of making the playoffs and a 77.40% chance of winning the division. Philadelphia now just has a 1.60% chance of finishing as the NFC’s top seed.
According to PFSN Analytics, based on the strength of schedule, the Eagles have the fifth-easiest remaining schedule in the NFL. This puts the NFC East team in a great position to secure a higher seed.
However, their offense has been a big issue. According to PFSN’s Offense Impact metric, the Eagles currently have the 15th-ranked offense in the league this season. There have been frequent disconnects between Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown, which have not been beneficial to the team so far.
Barkley, averaging just 3.7 yards per carry so far this season, has been one of the most significant issues for the Eagles, and the team will hope he can finish the season on a high note.
Here are the Eagles’ remaining fixtures for the season:
- Week 15: vs. Las Vegas Raiders
- Week 16: at Washington Commanders
- Week 17: at Buffalo Bills
- Week 18: vs. Washington Commanders
