Eagles Legend Voices Support for Brian Daboll To Become Philadelphia’s New OC: ‘This Would Be a Great Hire’

Brian Daboll is reportedly a candidate to be hired as the Eagles next offensive coordinator and a franchise legend is in favor of it.

Brian Daboll was fired as the head coach of the New York Giants during the 2025 NFL season. He is now seeking a new job during the offseason and is reportedly a candidate to join one of their NFC East rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles. A franchise legend recently voiced his opinion on the situation and gave his stamp of approval on him potentially becoming their next offensive coordinator.

Eagles Legend Endorses the Idea of Brian Daboll Becoming Their OC

The Eagles are in search of a new offensive coordinator after firing Kevin Patullo, who lasted just one year in the position. They let him go immediately following their disappointing first-round exit from the playoffs when they lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card round. Their offense struggled to get anything going in the game, a recurring theme this season.

Former Eagles running back LeSean McCoy apparently has his pick for who he wants to replace Patullo in the position. He shared a recent report from NFL insider Adam Schefter that Daboll will interview as a potential replacement. He responded to the news with a positive endorsement.

“This would be a great hire. We need somebody like Daboll,” stated McCoy.

Schefter shared his report that Daboll would interview for the open offensive coordinator role, in addition to receiving interest from other teams as a head coach. This doesn’t appear to be an option in Philadelphia as the Eagles seem to be sticking with Nick Sirianni.

“Former Giants HC Brian Daboll is expected to interview for the Eagles offensive coordinator job, per sources. He already has interviewed for Titans HC job, and is expected to have other interviews as well,” reported Schefter.

The Tennessee Titans have reportedly expressed interest in potentially hiring Daboll to be their new head coach after firing Brian Callahan during the 2025 season. They have apparently been conducting an exhaustive search for potential replacements as they seek the right option to lead a rebuild, so he is just one name on a long list of options.

If he doesn’t get a job as a head coach, becoming the Eagles’ offensive coordinator seems to be a reasonably strong alternative. He would be inheriting an offense loaded with talent, but one that underperformed to finish just 16th in PFSN’s Impact Rankings, so he would be in an ideal spot to succeed. McCoy is one of those who believes in the potential.
