After a season of struggling offense, the Philadelphia Eagles are adding a new offensive playmaker in Marquise Brown. This will be Brown’s fourth NFL team, and one where he can make his biggest impact.
Eagles Sign Marquise Brown in Free Agency
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Brown has signed a one-year deal worth up to $6.5 million with the Eagles.
Ever since he entered the league in 2019, Brown has been known for his great speed and burst off the line of scrimmage. While the current Eagles playmakers have solid speed, that is not their main strength. So, bringing in the 28-year-old wideout does add some versatility.
Speaking of the Eagles’ current playmakers, there is still trade talk of wideout A.J. Brown. The Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots were the two teams interested in trading for him, but the Rams have reportedly ended negotiations.
Breaking: The #Eagles are signing former #Chiefs WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to a 1-year, deal worth up to $6.5M, multiple sources tell me.

However, the Patriots are still looking for a playmaker to help Drake Maye. So, if the Eagles were to deal A.J. Brown to New England, at least Philly would have good veteran receiver depth.
Brown is coming off a solid season. As Schultz said,” Brown had 49 catches for 587 yards and 5 TDs last season.” According to PFSN’S WR Impact Grade, Brown’s 2025 season ranks third in his 7-year career. So, it is good to see that Brown still has it and hasn’t regressed significantly.
Brown comes to Philly with 4,322 career receiving yards and 33 career receiving touchdowns. Brown has had only one 1,000-yard season, in 2021 with the Baltimore Ravens, his third year in the NFL.
Even though Brown has been in the NFL since 2019, this will be his first year in the famous Kyle Shanahan-like offense seen all around the NFL. The Eagles’ new offensive coordinator is Sean Mannion, who was the Green Bay Packers’ quarterbacks coach the year prior. The Packers run the Shannahn offense, so Mannion will implement it in Philly.

This type of offense has helped receivers have successful seasons. Especially those with speed, such as Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, when both were with the Miami Dolphins. So, Brown could have a career year with this offensive scheme.
The one-year deal is also a good move by Eagles general manager Howie Roseman. If Brown plays great, they can sign him for more years. If he does not pan out, then the team will move on from him.
It is a very low-risk, high-reward move for Philly. This is also only the second offensive free agent that the Eagles are bringing in. The other is blocking tight end Johnny Mundt.
Overall, the Eagles got a playmaker who could have a career year with his third bird team in the NFL.
