Eagles Legend Jason Kelce Makes Feelings Clear on Philadelphia’s Coaching Changes

Jason Kelce discussed the Eagles’ offensive struggles and Kevin Patullo’s firing after Philadelphia’s playoff loss to San Francisco.

Jason Kelce addressed the Eagles’ offensive coordinator change this week after Philadelphia’s season ended with a playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The Eagles won the NFC East in 2025 but were eliminated in the divisional round after failing to score a touchdown in the second half, a pattern that defined their season.

Jason Kelce on What Changed for the Eagles’ Offense

On his “New Heights” podcast, Kelce discussed why the offense regressed and how that led to Kevin Patullo being removed as offensive coordinator after one season in the role. Kelce said the offense began to slip when the run game declined.

“The main reason to regress was the run game, the offensive line’s inability to stay healthy altogether to open up holes,” Kelce said. “You have a quarterback that’s not running as much. The threat of him running the ball opens up so much for the running back.”

Philadelphia finished the season ranked 16th in PFSN’s Offense Impact Metric despite returning most of the roster that won the Super Bowl a year earlier. The Eagles also averaged just 9.67 points per game in the second half.

Kelce said the playoff loss reflected the same issues.

“We had plays to make in that game,” he said. “We didn’t capitalize on the catches and the throws and the penalties that took back big plays. It was similar to how the whole season is going.”

The Eagles lost 27-24 to San Francisco after going scoreless after halftime, marking the sixth time in 2025 they failed to score a second-half touchdown.

Why Kelce Thinks the Eagles Need a New Offensive Voice

Philadelphia fired Patullo on Tuesday after just one season as offensive coordinator. Kelce suggested that the team should seek outside perspectives.

“It would probably behoove the Eagles to bring in somebody with a fresh perspective on where it’s at currently,” Kelce said. “When you bring in somebody else, it’s like, man, this is where we’re at now.”

Kelce also said responsibility for the offense’s performance does not fall on Patullo alone.

“The highest paid offense in the NFL, and they are mediocre across the board,” he said. “Patullo bears responsibility, and so do the players.”

Philadelphia invested heavily in its offense, led by Hurts, running back Saquon Barkley and star receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Despite that, the Eagles struggled with consistency all year, and frustrations often boiled over on the sidelines.

Patullo had been with head coach Nick Sirianni since the head coach arrived in Philadelphia in 2021 and was promoted internally after Kellen Moore left to become a head coach. Sirianni will now hire his sixth offensive play caller in six seasons.
