Patriots Monitoring A.J. Brown Trade as Eagles Set High Price

The Patriots added to their offense by signing former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs. Even after making the move, the Patriots remain one of the teams keeping a close eye on Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown.

However, a recent update from NFL Network indicates that the Eagles are currently asking for a very steep price in any potential trade.

New England entered the offseason with a clear need at wide receiver after moving on from veteran Stefon Diggs. Since then, the team has already addressed the position by signing Doubs to a four-year deal worth up to $80 million.

Doubs gives quarterback Drake Maye another dependable target and adds depth to a receiving group that includes DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins, Kyle Williams, and Efton Chism III. While the addition certainly improves the unit, it may not completely solve the Patriots’ need for a true top-tier playmaker.

That is why Brown remains a name worth watching. The three-time Pro Bowl receiver has emerged as one of the biggest potential trade targets this offseason.

Several teams around the league have reportedly checked in with the Eagles, but Philadelphia is not in a rush to move him and currently holds significant leverage in any negotiations.

This is because Brown is widely viewed as the best receiver who could realistically be acquired via trade, and the Eagles are believed to be asking for a very high return.

The Eagles are under no pressure to trade Brown and still view him as a key part of their offense. That means any team hoping to land the star receiver would likely need to part with significant draft capital.

For the Patriots, the situation creates a difficult decision. Brown would immediately give Drake Maye a legitimate No. 1 receiver and raise the ceiling of the entire offense.
For now, the sense is that New England is monitoring the situation closely but is not rushing into a deal while the price remains extremely high.

As the offseason continues, it’s notable that trade markets will shift, and if Philadelphia eventually lowers its asking price, the Patriots could quickly re-emerge as a serious contender to make a move.
