Every day, more and more dynasty leagues conduct their startup drafts. If you’re thinking about joining a new league, make sure you have a set of rankings you can trust. Of course, there’s more nuance to drafting than looking at a set of fantasy football rankings. However, rankings provide an essential baseline to guide your decisions during your draft.

Who Are the Best Wide Receivers To Draft in Dynasty?

    Justin Jefferson

In the wake of Kirk Cousins leaving Minnesota, Justin Jefferson’s status as the clear No. 1 dynasty asset was thrown into question. It shouldn’t be.

Situations can change. Talent does not…at least not until Jefferson is old and not good at football anymore. But at 25 years old, that’s not something fantasy managers need to worry about for the rest of the decade.

Jefferson averaged 20.2 fantasy points per game last season. That included two games he left early due to injury, and not having Cousins for half of them.

According to TruMedia, excluding the game Jefferson left early in his first game back from IR, Jefferson averaged 22.1 fantasy points per game without Cousins. The carousel of sub-replacement-level QBs the Vikings were deploying is worse than what they have now in Sam Darnold and, eventually, J.J. McCarthy.

Jefferson is QB-proof. Do not worry at all about his quarterback situation. Draft him with confidence.

    Puka Nacua

Perhaps this is unique to my fantasy circles, but it is very surprising to see so many fantasy managers out on Puka Nacua. At the same time, it’s easy to understand why. He wasn’t supposed to be this good. This random unathletic fifth-round pick was not supposed to post the greatest rookie WR season of all time.

Nacua averaged 17.6 fantasy points per game, finishing as the overall WR6. He did this as a rookie still learning and perfecting his craft. Nacua isn’t going to disappear — he’s going to get better.

The detractors say Nacua is not the WR1 — that it’s still Cooper Kupp. Well, in dynasty, that matters even less because Kupp is 31 years old and won’t be around much longer. But even for 2024, there should be no doubt that Nacua is the WR1 now.

Using TruMedia, we can see that Nacua averaged 15.23 ppg in all games played after the Rams’ bye week that also featured Kupp. Yes, that’s worse than his 17.6 ppg overall. Even so, he outplayed Kupp as a Day 3 rookie when they shared the field.

At just 23 years old, Nacua has the skill set to dominate for the next 6-8 years. He is well worth being taken in the first round of dynasty startup drafts.
