Who Are the Best Running Backs To Draft in Dynasty?
Breece Hall
There are two contenders to dethrone Christian McCaffrey as the top running back in fantasy. Bijan Robinson is one. Breece Hall is the other. Combine that with them both being much younger than CMC and it makes sense that they are both ranked ahead of him. Let’s talk about Hall.
What the Jets’ sophomore RB did last season coming off a torn ACL is one of the most impressive things a running back has done since Adrian Peterson in 2012.
Hall averaged 17.1 fantasy points per game, finishing as the overall RB6, despite being far less than 100% until the second half of the season. Imagine what Hall can do at full strength without Zach Wilson at quarterback.
Still just 23 years old, Hall is the rare running back who can be the cornerstone of a dynasty roster. Modern dynasties are built around wide receivers because of longevity. Hall should have at least another 5-6 years at the top of his game. Once the top WRs are off the board, don’t be afraid to push the button on Hall.
Kyren Williams
We go from one of the most reliable, rock-solid options at the position to perhaps the most risky. There is absolutely zero concern over whether Kyren Williams will open the season as the exact same elite RB1 he was last year. That’s going to happen.
The concern is that since Williams came out of nowhere, he can vanish just as quickly. Rams head coach Sean McVay likes having one back do it all, but he’s shown no allegiance to any particular player over the years.
With the Rams drafting Blake Corum on Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft, it’s not that difficult to envision a scenario where Williams gets hurt, misses a month, Corum balls out, and that’s the end of Williams as a feature back.
At the same time, if Williams doesn’t get hurt, he’s a 24-year-old elite RB1 who is cheaper than your typical top running back. It’s certainly more of a gamble, but you don’t create dynasties by playing it safe!
