Drake Maye Breaks Record With Excellent Performance Vs. Jets

Maye continued his quest for the MVP award with yet another strong display. He tore the Jets apart from start to finish, and it seemed as if they had no answers for him. He was so dominant that analysts on X wondered if he would return for the second half, given that the Patriots built a 35-3 lead at halftime.

He finished the game with 256 total yards, and it could have been more, as he was pulled early in the second half. Joshua Dobbs took over and led a few drives as the Patriots milked the clock. The final score was 42-10, with the Jets once again turning in an embarrassing performance.

The excellent performance resulted in a new record for the quarterback. He became the first passer in the NFL to complete more than 90% of his throws while surpassing the 250-yard mark with five touchdowns. It was an impressive outing that ended with a game ball from Mike Vrabel.

The win was still very important. In the second slate of games, the Buffalo Bills lost 13-12 to the Philadelphia Eagles at home. As a result, New England clinched its first AFC East title since the 2019 season, the final year of Tom Brady as the team’s quarterback. That year, the Patriots lost in the wild-card round.

The division is locked, and the Patriots still have a shot at earning the No. 1 seed in the AFC, which would grant them a bye in the first round. They need to defeat the Miami Dolphins in Week 18 and hope for a Denver Broncos loss. The Broncos will face a much tougher opponent in the Los Angeles Chargers.

For Drake Maye, who’s currently ranked as No. 3 in PFSN’s QB Impact metric, the future is bright. This season has already been a major success, and with the playoffs approaching, the Patriots will be tested heavily in January. For now, Maye continues to prove his worth.
