Donald Trump’s Super Bowl Visit Cost the Secret Service ‘Over $120,000,’ Including a Payment to NFL

Take a look at the total expenses the Secret Service racked up from President Donald Trump's visit to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans in February.

U.S. President Donald Trump attended the biggest NFL game of the year, Super Bowl LIX, between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, back in February.

The Eagles dominated the Chiefs in New Orleans at the Caesars Superdome en route to their second Super Bowl in franchise history, but while Trump was there to witness the NFL’s biggest stars go at it, it came at a cost — a very hefty one.

How Much Did Donald Trump’s Super Bowl Visit Cost?

Trump’s visit cost the Secret Service a lot of money. According to a Front Office Sports report, the total spending was over $120,000, with expenses including hotels, other lodging services, and even a payment to the NFL itself.

Trump and the Secret Service reportedly paid about $65,000 to hotels, including a Margaritaville Resort. This is a lot of money for a leisure activity for Trump, but it’s the price the sitting United States president had to pay to attend a Super Bowl.

Trump has shown face at numerous sporting events over his two presidencies, as he enjoys taking in these big games and championships.

Even since his second term started in January, he’s been spotted at the U.S. Open in New York, the FIFA Club World Cup in Miami, the Daytona 500, and more. He’s also even made appearances at home football games, like for Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

The $65,000 wasn’t the only lodging expense from the trip — there were two more charges for lodging, totaling approximately another $50,000. Like other leaders, he is always surrounded by security. These agents need to stay somewhere as well, which can help explain the high cost. Often, they arrive days before Trump to ensure his trips go smoothly.

A final charge that cost the Secret Service a substantial amount was the $7,000 that was paid to the NFL. The league was able to earn some money from Trump’s endeavor, likely guaranteeing increased security measures for the current president.

Trump was treated to an electric Super Bowl with plenty of explosive plays. He witnessed Cooper DeJean’s pick-six, a long touchdown from DeVonta Smith, and even a long consolation touchdown from Xavier Worthy from Patrick Mahomes. The game itself wasn’t close for most of the game, but it wasn’t short of entertainment.

It was a historic night for the President to potentially witness as the Chiefs attempted to three-peat for the first time in the Super Bowl era. Unfortunately for them, they fell short, as the president got to see the Eagles lift the trophy as they look to start a dynasty of their own.

Only time will tell if Trump decides to come back for Super Bowl LX in San Francisco, but one thing is certain — Trump’s next visit will cost a pretty penny, as well.
