‘I Don’t Give a S*** What I Feel’ – Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel Gets Discusses Jalen Ramsey’s Delayed Trade

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel gets brutally honest about Jalen Ramsey’s delayed trade, making it clear he’s focused on results, not emotions.

As Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel might agree, the Jalen Ramsey situation is a cloud looming over the team. Once the cornerback’s situation is settled, more attention can be spent on the goal of winning football games.

However, the veteran head coach is no stranger to being asked about his star players and his feelings on various topics. One question appeared to potentially touch a nerve, whether it was just the straw that broke the camel’s back or a topic McDaniel was especially uninterested in addressing.

Mike McDaniel Drops Profanity-Laced Rant Dripping With Frustration

Speaking at a Dolphins press conference in a clip posted on X by Ari Meirov, McDaniel answered a question about the Ramsey situation with a response that suggested he might be frustrated.

“I don’t personally, and I would lump you into this with me. I don’t give a s*** about what I feel. I don’t even really go down that road of ‘how do I feel about it.’ My job is to react and control my controllables and make sure that people are moving in one direction appropriately,” McDaniel said. “So the business is business. The opportunity that business does provide in the offseason is a rep to the team about handling noise.”

Ramsey is not attending the Dolphins mandatory minicamp due to the trade/contract situation. However, since his absence is excused, as stated by McDaniel, Ramsey will not be fined (unlike other stars holding out).

Miami is actively trying to trade the Pro Bowl cornerback, so it’s nice that both sides are on the same page regarding his absence. However, it still represents drama and distraction that McDaniel has to deal with.

McDaniel is well-known for dropping memorable lines at the podium, but the tone was arguably more intense than typical for the young head coach. The frustration of the situation appears to be impacting the coach.

McDaniel’s Tenure Heading for Potential Make-or-Break Season

The head coach seemed somewhat stressed at the podium, and he had plenty of reasons to be. The Dolphins are coming off a sub-500 season and are still looking for their first trip past the Wild Card round of the playoffs since 2000.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is still in the safe portion of his contract for at least two more seasons, so if the Dolphins want to make a significant change in the offseason, it could start with McDaniel. His offense finished 15th in PFSN’s Offense+ metrics in 2024, which leaves plenty of room for improvement.

However, McDaniel has also dealt with another big issue: an aging Tyreek Hill, who has more than hinted about his desire to leave the team. Ramsey’s status is another source of problems for the head coach to sort through.

Pressure and problems have had plenty of reason to take hold for the head coach, who needs it all to come together this season or risk finding himself on the hot seat. Will McDaniel’s Dolphins kick into a higher gear in 2025 or find themselves stuck in the same pattern once again?
