What’s the Latest on Tyreek Hill?

After Hill was carted off the field, while he raised his hands in the air and let fans know he was going to be alright, the Dolphins released an update on Hill’s condition.

“Tyreek Hill has been ruled out with a knee injury. He is being taken to a local hospital for imaging, evaluation and observation,” the team statement said.

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter also offered an update after Hill was removed from the field. “Dolphins fear WR Tyreek Hill dislocated his knee, per source,” Schefter wrote. “Hill is an ambulance on the way to the hospital to confirm.”

After the game, Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel confirmed that Hill has indeed dislocated his knee. “Mike McDaniel confirms Tyreek Hill dislocated his knee and will remain in the hospital overnight,” wrote Dolphins reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques. “Said Hill’s upbeat attitude immediately after the injury made a “giant” impact on the team psychologically Hill cracked jokes with his teammates and was “inspiring”.”

On Tuesday, Schefter provided another concerning update on Hill. “In addition to dislocating his knee, Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill also tore multiple ligaments in his knee, including his ACL, per sources,” he wrote. “Hill remains hospitalized and will undergo surgery today.”

NFL insider Ian Rapoport also gave an update on Hill’s potential return timeline. “With surgery today, it’s possible that Tyreek Hill will undergo additional surgeries,” Rapoport said. “There is no guarantee he’ll be ready for 2026. None of his 2026 salary is guaranteed now, but $11M (of $29.9M) becomes fully guaranteed if he’s on the roster in March, plus a $5M roster bonus.”

Hill had a great game against the Jets. At the time of his injury, Hill led all Dolphins receivers with six catches for 67 yards and no touchdowns. Now, many people’s thoughts and prayers are focused on him.

Among those wishing Hill well was Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes who, like millions of other people, was watching the “Monday Night Football” game on ESPN. Mahomes sent out a message on X that simply said “Prayers up man” with two praying hands emojis after his words.

Hill spent his first six NFL seasons with the Chiefs, being one of Mahomes’ big targets in the Kansas City offense. Hill, though, moved along to play for the Dolphins behind Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

If a fan had been watching the Dolphins all season long and saw Hill on Monday night, then they might have wondered where this version of “Cheetah” was on the field. After Hill caught passes from Tagovailoa on Monday night, he showed extra bursts of speed when gaining yardage.

Now that Hill is out for the rest of this season, Tagovailoa will have to focus on other receivers like Jaylen Waddle and Darren Waller. Waller caught two touchdown passes against the Jets as the Dolphins were up 24-13 midway through the fourth quarter.
