Patrick Mahomes Sends 3-Word Message After Tyreek Hill’s Devastating Injury

When Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill went down with an awful leg injury, his former quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, offered his prayers.

The NFL world looked on in horror as Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a terrible injury to his left leg. Hill was heading to the sidelines when he was tackled in the game against the New York Jets. When Hill rolled over, his left leg was severely damaged.

As many other players watched the game, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes thought about his old teammate.

What Did Patrick Mahomes Say About Tyreek Hill?

After seeing Hill go down, Mahomes headed out to X and offered a three-word post: “Prayers up man” with praying hands emojis following it.

When he got hurt, Hill had been the most effective Dolphins receiver when being targeted by Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. He had six catches for 67 yards, with his longest catch being one of 28 yards.

Dolphins and Jets players knelt down on the field as Hill was being attended to by Dolphins medical personnel. As Hill was being carted off the field, he raised his hands to the Hard Rock Stadium crowd and let them know he was going to be OK.

On Tuesday, NFL insider Adam Schefter provided another concerning update on Hill. “In addition to dislocating his knee, Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill also tore multiple ligaments in his knee, including his ACL, per sources,” he wrote. “Hill remains hospitalized and will undergo surgery today.”

NFL insider Ian Rapoport also gave an update on Hill’s potential return timeline. “With surgery today, it’s possible that Tyreek Hill will undergo additional surgeries,” Rapoport said. “There is no guarantee he’ll be ready for 2026. None of his 2026 salary is guaranteed now, but $11M (of $29.9M) becomes fully guaranteed if he’s on the roster in March, plus a $5M roster bonus.”

Hill, a 10-year NFL veteran, played his first six seasons with the Chiefs. He was one of Mahomes’ main targets among his receiving corps. Hill’s best season yardage-wise with Kansas City was back in 2018, when he had 87 receptions for 1,479 yards and 12 touchdown catches. In his final season with the Chiefs, he scored nine touchdowns.

At times, Hill has been frustrated with his role with the Dolphins. He has been shown on TV cameras showing his frustration while on the field. But Monday night’s game looked to be a time when both Tagovailoa and Hill were on the same page.

Hill showed incredible bursts of speed after making catches against the Jets. Seeing him go down with an injury that will probably keep him out for the rest of the 2025 NFL season is a devastating blow to him and the Dolphins.

Tagovailoa will now have to focus on getting the ball into the hands of Jaylen Waddle and Darren Waller a whole lot more. The star tight end scored two touchdowns in his first game with the Dolphins, and if he stays healthy, Waller will be a focal point of their offense for the rest of the season.
