The New York Giants lost to the Chicago Bears 24-20 this Sunday in Week 10, virtually ending their Wild Card hopes. With a 2-8 record, the Giants sit last in the NFC East, behind the Washington Commanders (3-6), Dallas Cowboys (3-5), and Philadelphia Eagles (6-2).
After another frustrating defeat, many fans flocked to social media to demand Brian Daboll be fired, and one particular post went viral.

Did the New York Giants Fire Brian Daboll?
Shortly after the Giants’ loss, a post circulated on X claiming the Giants had fired Brian Daboll. As of this writing, the post has amassed more than 2.2 million views, 18,000 likes, and 1,000 retweets.
BREAKING: #Giants are firing HC Brian Daboll.

However, it came from the famous satire account Wesley Steinberg on X, which can confuse many fans since the account is verified and has a blue check mark.
Despite fans’ frustration with another loss, Daboll remains the Giants’ head coach. The disappointment was heightened in Week 10 after the team suffered its fourth straight loss, despite leading for most of the game against the Bears.
The Giants had a 10-point lead in the final minutes but allowed the Bears to score a touchdown. After a three-and-out without quarterback Haxson Dourt (concussion), the defense gave up more points, sealing their defeat.
While no reliable information confirms Daboll’s departure, several credible reports suggest co-owner John Mara favored firing him after the Week 7 loss to Denver. Yet he lacked internal support, keeping Daboll’s future at the center of current team discussions.
Giants Squandered Many Chances for Victory in Recent Weeks
Although no dismissal occurred during the week, it’s worth noting that the Giants are one of the NFL teams that wasted the most potential wins in 2025.
According to Joe Schoen‘s survey, the Giants had a better than 90% chance of winning against the Dallas Cowboys, Broncos and Bears in recent weeks, yet they left the field defeated in all three games.
Against the Cowboys, Broncos, and Bears the Giants had a 92.3%, 99.3%, and 96.9% chance of winning late in the 4th quarter. Brian Daboll lost all of them. The odds of that happening is 1 in 60,000. pic.twitter.com/29NxNr7gXn

With the Giants facing the Green Bay Packers (who currently rank 12th in the PFSN Defense Impact with a C grade) in Week 11, another loss could heighten calls for Daboll’s removal. For now, his job status remains a defining storyline for the team.
Additionally, it is crucial to monitor how Dourt’s injury from Week 10 (a concussion sustained late in the game) will be managed. The possible absence of one of the Giants’ most important starters due to protocol evaluations would be another major blow.
In four of the seven games he started, Dourt required evaluation for injury, most recently leaving the Week 10 game with a concussion following a running play that resulted in a fumble. He briefly returned for two plays before the end of the third quarter before exiting for good.
The starting quarterback is extremely capable of throwing explosive passes and using his legs effectively to gain yards, but the 22-year-old is not in an ideal situation, having to take on the responsibility of being decisive at this moment.
